flowlee 1 Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Hi everyone! I'm running the latest versions of both the Emby server and the Android app on my Phone (Android 6.0). Whenever I play music it starts to play as it should but after about 30 seconds pauses for a few seconds. This happens repeatedly all throughout different songs. It also doesn't matter if the music is steamed or played from a downloaded file. To me it doesn't sound like a buffer problem but more like the app is loosing focus and then gaining it again. I could reproduce this problem and got the following log output: Fri Sep 15 20:45:50 GMT+02:00 2017 Checking network connection Fri Sep 15 20:45:50 GMT+02:00 2017 MediaSyncAdapter starting Fri Sep 15 20:45:50 GMT+02:00 2017 capabilitiesJson not set yet. When I skip to the next song, wait a little and then skip back everything starts to play normally except for the problem described above. Both problems I described happen only with the Android app and with 4G or Wifi, and with or without headphones. Do you have any idea what could cause these issues? Thank you!
Luke 39644 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 hi @@flowlee can you please try the 2.9.60 release and let me know if this makes a difference? thanks !
flowlee 1 Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 I tried the new release and the issues are still present. I think the first problem I described is due to CPU scaling because it can be reproduced on my phone by turning the screen off manually and doesn't happen at all when the screen is on. I can't tell for sure yet but it looks like I can get rid of the skipping by turning battery optimization off specifically for the Emby app. For the second problem I still have no idea what may be causing it. Thank you for looking into this!
flowlee 1 Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 Sorry to report that the skipping is back, even with all power saving options disabled...
Luke 39644 Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Ok, I'm not able to reproduce but will continue to test, thanks.
Luke 39644 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 There are improvements for this in the beta version of the app. If you'd like to try that you can learn how here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/24350-android-open-beta-testing/ Thanks !
