Emby.IsoMounting seen on GitHUB

I am very sorry if I am beating a dead horse.

I just discovered Emby and like the way it organizes media.  Just installed it on my server 2 days ago (Freenas 11).  I have more then 600 blu-ray rips (from my own collection) in ISO format.  It is a mixture of 3D and non-3D titles, and have been using Emby on Kodi on my intel Nuc for my HTPC w/ powerdvd 17 as external player (had this setup prior to emby to allow proper 3d playback).

I see once upon a time - Emby did support transcoding ISO files and also mounting for metadata purposes.  I also see that this is now no longer supported (which is a shame).

In trying to learn about Emby - I did come across on GitHUB 'Emby.IsoMountaing'.

My questions is - will his bring back the ISO mounting capabilities of emby - and if so - how does one install?

I couldn't see this in the plugins option - and is this option only available on linux platforms and not freebsd (willing to install a LInux VM if needed).

Thanks for the help and look forward to exploring emby more.  If ISO mounting becomse supported again w/transcoding - I will happily subscribe for a lifetime member and dump plex.

Slighly unrelated questions (please advise if I have to make another post)

I had Kodi get all metadata and fanart etc in the past.

naming convention I used was - guardians_of_the_galaxy.bluray/guardians_of_the_galaxy.bluray.iso (for non-3d movies) and for 3D movies it would be guardians_of_the_galaxy.3d.bluray/guardians_of_the_galaxy.3d.bluray.iso

Each movie is in it's own folder.  Similar for 'bonus bluray discs' - the_dark_knight_rises_bonus_features.bluray/the_dark_knight_rises_bonus_features.bluray.iso

am I going to have rename my folders and movies for emby to recognize?  some 3d movies are being seen and some are not.

Appreciate all the help and time - and if this was answered elsewhere - I would appreciate I link to the post - just haven't been able to find.

Thanks again

Hi, welcome. For us there's just not enough demand anymore to spend any significant amount of time on ISO features. Right now we don't have any plans to take the current level of support further than it is.

Are you saying those movies are not showing up at all, or not being detected as 3d? thanks.

Thank you for the reply.  Just wasn't sure what the GitHub iso thingy was - so wasn't sure about that.  Sad to hear about the lack of support for iso's.  I hope this changes one day - even as a paid add-on.

Re: the 3D iso's.  They are showing up - but they are not being labelled properly - i.e. not being detected as 3D.  Some are and some are not - and just trying to see how I can save some time.

BTW - wanted to comment that it's great to see how responsive the team is to community questions!  It's one of the big reasons why I thought I would try Emby out

Thanks again

The cover art that is being downloaded doesn’t pull 3D cover art. Other than that no other way. I understand if I don’t have the type of 3D ‘sbs, mvc, etc’ it won’t know the 3D type. Not sure of any other way to identify if it’s recognizing a title as 3D or not other than the cover art.

Before experimenting with with Emby - I was using Kodi's Universal Scraper and with combination of Fanart.tv plugin.

again - it wasn't perfect but did work 90% of the time using the naming convention as stated.

Also using Aeon MQ7 skin - the Bluray case will say 3D instead of Bluray using my current naming convention.

I use the cover art plugin to add a 3D overlay in a profile that looks at my 3D library.  Adds 3D graphic to the covers.  It was the simplest solution.  Think i had to verify that the meta for the 3D format was accurate in the movies.  I fought the ISO battle years ago and ended up converting all those ISO movies over to MKV.  It was the simplest solution i could come up with at that time (make MKV).

Good luck!  Welcome...

Thanks so much for the feedback and help.  If push comes to shove - that's what I will do but will try adding a 3D overlay as you suggested.

Thanks

Yeah, that was the Kodi skin doing that.  As mentioned above we can to with the CoverArt plug-in.

However, Emby will have to know that the item is 3D before that will work.

So - best to put all my 3D content in a separate 3D folder and then subfolders following the naming convention in the Emby Wiki?  Or can I keep the naming convention I have as above?

Thanks again!
