Hugues 3 Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Bonjour. With my 10.5 tab ,i feel better to control seek and volume control gesture on all sreen like previous version e.g : 2.8.54. An option for restore that feature are welcome. Thank You.
Hugues 3 Posted June 28, 2017 Author Posted June 28, 2017 Bonsoir@@Luke Sorry if I'm not clear. All the suface of the sreen.Put my finger anywere in the screen Left for rewind right for forward.for me it's more pratical or intutive than use the progress bar. thank's for your attention.
newyorker 6 Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 Although a post from 2019 mentioned this feature, it still hasn't been implemented after 5 years, so I'd like to bring it up again. I hope to control playback without bringing up the OSD interface, such as by sliding to fast forward, adjust volume, and brightness (at least playback progress). To seek 10 seconds, the current operation requires clicking the screen first. The bulky OSD interface, along with the need for the hand to be in the middle of the screen, greatly affects the experience of watching videos. It would be very convenient to adjust the progress by sliding at any position. Some may disagree, but for most modern players, this is a fundamental feature. On PC players, you can also adjust the progress without bringing up the OSD by clicking the arrow keys. It's similar, isn't it? Even if gesture control is offered as an option that's turned off by default, please consider it. 1

I like the gestures that Apple has added to their own video player.

Like @newyorker said, pulling up the OSD just to seek is super annoying and feels ccounter productive. 1
Gryzor 13 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I think at this point Emby must have the only video player out there that doesn't support gestures. I don't understand, honestly, why the resistance to them. From what I understand it used to have them and then some users said they didn't like them, so instead of offering an option they removed them altogether? I don't get it. Pinch to zoom, swipe for ffw/rwd, volume/brightness up and down, double tap to advance, keep pressed to speed up... It's not like those things were invented yesterday. 2
KUNALHAZARD 10 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Please, @Luke , just add the double tap to seek forward/back—not the brightness or volume gestures, just the double tap! 1
hatsuyukine 1 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Yes, I need this gesture control feature, and after reading some of the discussions I realized that it was a feature that once existed and then was rudely removed. That's why I'm still sticking with the 3rd party client, even though I prefer emby UI

That's why I'm still sticking with the 3rd party client, even though I prefer emby UI I love the UI but the lack of gesture control is... somewhat unbelievable. I was with a friend of mine and he showed me the app he's using on his iPad, then I showed him Emby on my phone, first thing he did was to try and control playback with gestures. He almost didn't believe me when I told him it doesn't have it. It's such a basic feature it's mind boggling it was removed and not being added back even with an option to disable it.
mattman3234@gmail.com 1 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Also have same request. Moved from Plex to Emby...but really missing this feature. Only video app I have that doesn't support it on Android. 1
hatsuyukine 1 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) @Luke Please reconsider the issue of gesture control. More important than volume and brightness is the ability to fast forward and rewind - of course, having both would be best. Set this feature to be disabled by default, so it won't offend those who find it offensive. Emby's clients have a very modern, elegant UI design, but truly modern players are those that support gesture control. From local players to Netflix, everyone supports double-tapping to seek 10 seconds. It's an indescribable feeling. I came to Emby from Jellyfin, largely because of the client UI, which is very intuitive. Then I discovered it doesn't support gestures. Now I use a external player, but this would lose many features, such as skipping intros. More importantly, this would defeat the purpose of Emby's UI. Edited January 26 by hatsuyukine
