3D not playing from ISO/BDMV

I have some 3D titles in ISO format and some in /BDMV folders.

I already made sure direct path is enabled in Add-on. But when I launch the movies in Kodi, they play in 2D only. The dialog comes up asking me to select Subtitle, audio track but there isn't an option to select 2D or 3D.

Am I missing other steps in order to activate 3D?

Nope, other users have been successful playing 3D in Kodi no problem. I don't know what could be the problem, Kodi should be auto-detecting that stuff since you are using Direct Paths.

After a database reset to make sure Emby is set to Direct Path to begin with, the 3D auto-detect works for mkv files now.

But I still can't get Kodi to auto-detect 3D ISO files as 3D. Kodi just plays in 2D.

I'm narrowing the potential causes to three:

1. Maybe my naming convention is not quite right? I can't find an example in wiki for 3D and ISO files but based on the examples, here's how I name them:

/Avatar.(2000).3D

    /BDMV

/Avatar.(2000)

   /Avatar.(2000).3D.ISO

2. Maybe Emby is not passing over the correct mediainfo? Media Info is blank for these ISO files.

3. I guess another possibility is the crappy Android Box running old version firmware 4.4.2 and Kodi 16 that can't be upgraded further. Maybe newer boxes don't have this issue?

I read the thread you posted. In general, you'll want to move away from ISO. The format is not flexible enough to play on any client without extra support. ISO support is pretty much non-existent and I don't think the trend will reverse.

The audience for ISO files is getting smaller and smaller and so what I think you're going to find is that development for ISO related features is going to be very slow. I'm speaking in general terms not specific to Emby. I would strongly suggest video files for the best possible experience.

Yes my makemkv is ready to go.

Unless the Zidoo box proves itself to be the ultimate solution. Based on a post here http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=221407

Zidoo seems to provide the best compromise of usability, features and support. I can even get the Zidoo X8 for cheaper (Amazon has a sale on it now) than many of the top end Android boxes that don't support 3D, ISO, 7.1 etc

I will try this box and see if it provides better 3D experience for Emby than the cheap box I have now.

Final update:

My Zidoo X8 box arrived yesterday. As one of the few Android boxes that has native ISO support for 3D, Kodi loads menu with 3D option and plays 3D flawlessly. Emby was never the issue to begin with.
