JeremyFr79 228
UGH, so hit and miss with codecs/files/players lol getting a bit frustrating but I know it's mainly due to everyone trying to catch up with 4K and HEVC, just going to have to be patient. On a side note I did get to watch Billy Lynss Long Half Time Walk this weekend in 4K/HFR, movie was so so at best, but it was interesting to see a movie in full 60fps, it was weird, like "hyper real" kind of weird to watch. I think I prefer 24fps to 60fps, but time will tell.

JeremyFr79 228
Ha! Was is super smooth? Too perfect? Yeah super smooth, little to 0 motion blur, the detail was crazy. It was actually distracting though you got more used to it as the movie went on though never completely used to it. It's really hard to explain, but it was like a SOE you couldn't turn off. Don't get me wrong it was great seeing what my TV could REALLY do, but yeah for now I think I prefer my movies in 24fps, I could see 60fps being awesome for things like RedBull films and stuff like that though. Guest asrequested
I'm planning to buy a new TV this year. I've been waiting until there was more content and more support with more options. I think the time is about right. That's why I'm buying the gen 7. Preparing for things to come.
JeremyFr79 228
I've got a pair of Vizio M-Series (80" and 65") and love em, nice thing is they support all the HDR standards that will stick around, and the picture quality is top notch on them. Not to mention having the built in 4K Chromecast is nice to (thought Emby wont cast 4K to them)
Guest asrequested
I don't know what I'll get, yet. Probably a Samsung.
JeremyFr79 228
I saw nothing in the Samsung side by side with the M or P series that made them worth more than the Vizios. Not to mention that with recent event's with their product quality have more and more made me lean away from them. Exploding cellphones and washers show's an inherent lack of quality control or care for consumer safety.
Guest asrequested
That's a valid point. By the time I decide to buy one, there'll probably be new developments. How does the IR sensor work on yours? The last time I installed a vizio, the IR sensor really sucked.

How does the IR sensor work on yours? The last time I installed a vizio, the IR sensor really sucked. Both work fine, I have a Harmony hub running one, so it's actually sitting in a cabinet 4 feet below and to the right of the TV facing out into the room, the other I'm using a Harmony Ultimate from 14 feet away with 0 issues as well. The thing with both M & P series they actually come with Android tablets as remotes, so you can control via IR or Android App that you can install on any android device. Guest asrequested
That's good to know. I'll keep it mind when I start looking. I don't need any real functionality, just on and off. I've got a hub, too.
JeremyFr79 228
Ok, so things are seeming very weird to me, I have some 4K files that play without issue in ET, yet others that won't at all, They ALL will play outside of ET just fine. Looking at media info they seem to be same codec, level etc not sure what I could be missing, I'm posting media info below see if any of you can spot something I'm not seeing or not privy to that may be causing the issue. Guest asrequested
When you say won't play....nothing happens, the file stops playing after a few seconds, crashes app...??
JeremyFr79 228
refresh rate switches over, seek bar comes up stays at 0:00 and sometimes if I try to back out it'll crash ET, other times it'll back out back to the menu. I've also had it play audio with a black screen/seek bar etc. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this and I don't know enough about encoding to even know where to start looking. Yet all of them play just fine in Windows Media Player with LAV 0.69 running DXVANative, (LAV's quicksync support doesn't seem to like the 7th gen procs yet)
Guest asrequested
It may be to do with refresh rate switching. Others have reported similar issues. I imagine you have set it in MadVR? Edited March 21, 2017 by Doofus
JeremyFr79 228
ET is set to Auto/Auto so I'm not sure if it's using EVR or MAD
JeremyFr79 228
I suppose I could try running ET at 23p and see if that changes anything....
Guest asrequested
Disable switching and let the gpu up it 59Hz. That's how I have mine. My GPU is set to 59Hz Edited March 21, 2017 by Doofus
JeremyFr79 228
Disable switching and let the gpu up it 59Hz. That's how I have mine. My GPU is set to 59Hz I prefer the post processing in my television to that of the computer and prefer to feed it the purest signal possible. But to the issue, I've adjusted the default refresh to 23p for the video card and disable auto refresh changing. With that disabled I get a green screen with audio playing if set to auto/auto. If I set Intel QS and EVR I get playback but it's obviously not hardware decoding and so i get tons of skipped frames/lag and cpu pegged at 100% If I set DXVA CopyBack with EVR I get the same exact results, tons of dropped frames/lag cpu pegged. Setting Intel Qucksync with MadVR again the same results as the first 2 And lastly DXVA Copyback with MadVR causes ET to crash.
Guest asrequested
Well, with madVR you'll probably need to change the configuration. Have you tried adding the different refresh rates and let madVR do the switching? Edited March 21, 2017 by Doofus
JeremyFr79 228
as part of my troubleshoot I completely disabled those 2 settings and just ran video output at 23p and still same issues.

JeremyFr79 228
Now knowing that a custom version of LAV is being used in ET, I'm going to see if I can configure the custom version with the settings I know work with my card and make ET work correctly tonight. Guest asrequested
LAV itself isn't custom, you can overwrite it with the a downloaded version. But you can alter the directshowplayer.xml.
Guest asrequested
@@Luke,@@babgvant any chance you can release control of the LAV settings, in an advanced mode? For people like us, it would be very useful.
