So I hope now things around this get a little more concrete.

 

Mono is too processor-hungry.

Will it require a significant rewrite to migrate to .Net Core or is the current code in place somewhat compatible with .Net Core?

Probably not too many code changes but some projects will have to be shuffled around I'm sure.

The Ombi dev has started work to port over Ombi to .net core from Mono. I setup a .Net environment to test with and it was pretty painless. Hopefully the other two indexing services I use will also make the change so I can rid myself of Mono completely.

.net core doesn't run on all distros yet so that will leave developers with the choice of continuing to work with mono or just not supporting those distros.

That's true. But with the new version a lot of distros are supported. :)

And not using mono is a big ++++ . :)
