Luke 40136 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 That was a quick turnaround from preview.
Luke 40136 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 If you look at the first bullet point in the changelog, that's very exciting. RuntimeMajor performance improvements in the runtime and framework 1
anderbytes 140 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 So I hope now things around this get a little more concrete. Mono is too processor-hungry. Sent from my ASUS_Z017DA using Tapatalk
Jdiesel 1332 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Will it require a significant rewrite to migrate to .Net Core or is the current code in place somewhat compatible with .Net Core?
Luke 40136 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Probably not too many code changes but some projects will have to be shuffled around I'm sure.
thatoneguy99 33 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Looking forward to test!! Sent from my phone!
Jdiesel 1332 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 The Ombi dev has started work to port over Ombi to .net core from Mono. I setup a .Net environment to test with and it was pretty painless. Hopefully the other two indexing services I use will also make the change so I can rid myself of Mono completely.
Luke 40136 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 .net core doesn't run on all distros yet so that will leave developers with the choice of continuing to work with mono or just not supporting those distros.
thatoneguy99 33 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Weed out the weak. Haha Sent from my phone!
Sven 136 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 .net core doesn't run on all distros yet so that will leave developers with the choice of continuing to work with mono or just not supporting those distros. That's true. But with the new version a lot of distros are supported. And not using mono is a big ++++ .
anderbytes 140 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Huge one. Sent from my ASUS_Z017DA using Tapatalk
Luke 40136 Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 The testing thread will be here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50012-emby-server-for-net-core/ Thanks.
Luke 40136 Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 Some early feedback from the .net core testers:
anderbytes 140 Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 Amazing. Eager to see it on beta builds Sent from my ASUS_Z017DA using Tapatalk
