Hi,

I setup my LibreElec system newly because of slow music sync but now I discoverered the real slow initial sync for music again.

The plugin is version 2.3.1 and the songs are updated one (1) per second.

With 10533 songs in Emby this would take ~3h to complete.

It looks for me the initial sync crashes after some time. I thought this is an issue with a matured system and installed from scratch.

The current log contains lots of line like this:

11:19:02 T:140240253605632  NOTICE: EMBY.musicutils -> getting song ID3 tags for /storage/.kodi/temp/2-11 Missing You.m4a

I'll wait for the crash now to add a compmlete log here. But why does it take 1 second for each song.

It looks for me like the songs are copied localy to /storage/.kodi/temp from my NAS and deleted after the investigation try. (why? - this takes much time) .

Investigation of the files looks like braking on the blank in file names - I'm right?

Go to the add-on settings > sync options > at the bottom, disable all the extra stuff for music. This should speed up the initial sync. Not sure why it's crashing your system. It's always been that slow with these options enabled, because it's reading information from your files. I think if the files can't be accessed directly, they are copied locally so they can be read correctly.

The extra music settings do not work with direct streaming, hence why it's faster. Otherwise, disabling the music settings (read from file for rating, etc) can be disabled so the sync is faster without enabling direct streaming for music.

Correct, if files can't be accessed directly they'll be copied locally making the process even slower.

If you don't care about ratings and other ID3 tags just disable it. It's a feature request for the Emby server to scrape the ratings, the current implementation in the Emby for Kodi addon is a big workaround.

Music should probably be set to the following by default

Direct Stream: On

Import: Off

Convert: Off

Allow..: Off

The Import, Convert, & Allow settings should also be hidden if Direct Stream is On, since they are incompatible.
