ebr 14955
And "doesn't play" is defined as the item plays back but you cannot see the video or is there an error in any of those instances?

oldschool 7
Doesn't play means that it says: player error encountered. will re-try... two times, and then returns to the title screen and says "too many errors. Giving up".
oldschool 7
They will not play any audio or video when I have the audio output setting to "downmix to stereo", and give me the retrying errors. When I switch to direct audio output, the video plays, but no audio. I have my shield plugged directly into my tv via HDMI.
oldschool 7
I can use Kodi on this shield TV using the internal player and it plays those videos no problem.
ebr 14955
So, whatever we are transcoding to on the server is not playable by the device - which is very strange. What version of the server? Have you customized your ffmpeg at all?
oldschool 7
Downloaded Version 3.1.227.0 beta this morning. I am using a stock ffmpeg I downloaded. C:\FFMPEG\ffmpeg-20161012-7cf0ed3-win64-static\bin\ffmpeg.exe This is happening on two different Shield TVs.
Solution Luke 37214 Posted November 20, 2016 Solution Share Posted November 20, 2016 Try this version of ffmpeg: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Resources/tree/master/ffmpeg/windows You can then customize in the emby server dashboard under Transcoding. Thanks.
oldschool 7
Ok. Downloading the version Luke posted makes it work. The one I downloaded was from the ffmpeg website, and was the latest version they had. Apparently it didn't play nice.
