I think it has something to do with the chapter position on the last chapter?

movie length: 01:38:55.930

Chapter 13: 01:38:55.679

EDIT

I thought this was the case, but from chapter two onwards failed to extract images from Sunshine.

  • Solution

Likely means the decode time stamps are not quire right. generally if you run it though mkvmerge it will generally fix them. There are a few threads mentioning it. If we cannot seek the file we cannot extract the image.

If that is the case it may not be the issue then. But the most likely scenario is that for one reason or another we cannot seek the file. There are a few other things it may well be

it could be that we are extracting black frames (do you see the default icon or a black frame)

Ok try a remux with mkvmerge (if you want to)

then delete

%appdata%\MediaBrowser-Server\data\chapter-images\failures.txt

and then run the chapter extraction task see how you fare.

Incidentally the files listed in this text file generally have something nqr with them. Some are fine but  the last chapter maybe too close to the end of the file or for one reason or another we cannot seek in them.

It's weird because all my movies are muxed by myself, but after remux through mkvmerge problem is solved.

Thanks

you don't need to delete the file.

For it to work for me, I had to delete the file otherwise "Chapter image extraction" would not work, If I left the file there (has about 13 entries) the process would take 3 seconds to complete and it wouldn't do anything (no errors in the log window), but after deleting the file it would start creating chapters (for about 5min) until it filled up the failure.txt to about 13 entries again.

I also tried mkvmerge on a few of the damaged files just to see if it would continue processing once it was fixed, but it didn't, the process just completed in 3 seconds again, but after deleting the failure.txt it did process, and the files that I ran through mkvmerge didn't show up on the failed list.

I'm on the lastest dev build.

That's weird because every mkv is created through mkvmerge by myself ... But i give it a try. Thanks

I noticed this as well, a few of my files remuxed in mkvmerge already it could not extract images from, yet when i ran it through a newer version of mkvmerge it worked fine. The only thing in common it seemed was those files were remuxed with an older version of mkvmerge and mb3 just would not exctract those images.
