trpltongue 0
Yeah, I played with the edit functions a bit, I just don't want to have to edit all of my stuff manually....again.... trpltongue 0
I actually tried that with no luck. So I toggled from compatible to MB2/3 and then saved. Restarted MBServer. Then toggled to compatible and saved. Then quit MBServer. Manually deleted all artwork and metadata from my folders as well as deleting all the cache files in the appdata folder. Restarted MBServer and it automatically scanned the library and downloaded new items. This time it named the images differently and everything is right except it is still downloading a fanart.jpg and a landscape.jpg for the series. It is also downloading a seasonxx-landscape.jpg instead of a seasonxx-fanart.jpg. Otherwise I think everything is good. Not sure why toggling the setting for compatible worked, but I promise you that I did NOT modify that setting during or after the installation until just now to toggle it. Luke 37218
The fanart naming is by design. During development of our xbmc image saving we had several xbmc users involved, and the resulting file names are all based on the xbmc wiki and their test results. trpltongue 0
I must admit I'm no expert on xbmc naming so I'm sure it works because you guys have honestly done a great job with this. I love the interface and simplicity of it. I was just going on the following wiki info for XBMC Frodo: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMC_v12_(Frodo)_FAQ#How_should_local_images_be_named_for_Frodo.3F Which describe the labeling as seasonxx-fanart.jpg? trpltongue 0
that's what we get for banners, wide and graphical Hmm... not sure why but the ones it scraped for me (Dexter and CSI) were not graphical. They were rectangular with the show picture, but no name on them. I'm going to do a fresh install with all the download options set and see if maybe something got messed up in my initial install. trpltongue 0
Weird! I don't have that, but instead have the following file called banner.jpg I've just uninstalled. I'm going to restart and then reinstall and use my test db to see what happens.

trpltongue 0
Okay, fresh install is working MUCH better. Files are going where they are supposed to go for MB3. I think there is a bit of a compatibility issue with XBMC though in both naming convention and location of metadata. For TV shows: MB3 uses backdrop.jpg, seasonXX-landscape.jpg and thumb.jpg but XBMC does not recognize those names (at least not with Frodo naming convention). Additionally, MB3 stores the episode artwork in a "metadata" folder inside each season folder. I haven't tested it yet, but I'm pretty sure XBMC expects the images in the same folder as the episodes? Also, according to the updated Frodo documentation, each episode art should be called episodename-thumb.jpg but MB3 uses episodename.jpg. For Movies: Again, MB3 uses backdrop.jpg and thumb.jpg which XBMC does not recognize. I definitely don't mean to step on toes here, I just was trying to understand what MB3 is doing with regards to artwork as I am pretty picky about my art and metadata. I may just have MB3 store metadata and limited artwork to my C: drive so that I can navigate MB3 on my tablets understanding that the info and images will be slightly different between xbmc and MB3. Shouldn't be more than a few hundred megabytes if I just to banners / posters / episode art for TV shows and posters for movies.
Luke 37218
Sounds like you picked the MB2/MB3 image saving convention. You should have left it at the default and it would have used xbmc compatible file names. So, working as expected.
Koleckai Silvestri 1150
In the Server Dashboard do you have "Image Saving Convention" set to "Compatible - MB3/Plex/XBMC"?

trpltongue 0
I did. They are definitely set to compatible. The only change I made was to disable chapter image extraction. I can change it to MB2/MB3, save, and then change it back if that will help? Is there any way to force an update of the metadata that is cached? Koleckai Silvestri 1150
You can click on the MediaBrowser icon in the dashboard, go to the item and edit to force a refresh. You can edit your Media Folders to refresh all child items.
trpltongue 0
Okay, I did a bunch of testing over the last couple of days and this is what I sorted out: Tested using "An Idiot Abroad" TV show. Series art is scraped as expected and with the XBMC compatible file names and folders (poster.jpg, banner.jpg, fanart.jpg, etc). Additionally, a "landscape.jpg" file is scraped which is the same dimensions as fanart, but is a "thumb" for the series according to fanart.tv. "extrafanart" and "extrathumbs" folders are created in the right place and files populated with the XBMC compatible names. I still have to check for the ".actors" folder and files, didn't have time for that yet. Season art is *mostly* scraped with XBMC compatible file names. Season Posters are scraped properly, but season fanart is NOT. Fanart.tv doesn't list a category for season "fanart" or "backgrounds", instead they have season "thumbs" which is what MB3 downloads and saves as "seasonxx-landscape.jpg". However, this is NOT an XBMC compatible file name. "seasonxx-landscape.jpg" should be labeled "seasonxx-fanart.jpg". Manual renaming fixes the problem and XBMC picks up the seasonxx-fanart.jpg perfectly. Movies tested using 2 Guns and A Good Day to Die Hard: Movies grouped in folders- MB3 grabs all the relevant pictures, creates the extrafanart and extrathumbs folders and names everything properly (note I haven't tested the .actors folder functionality yet). Movies in VIDEO_TS folder structure - MB3 grabs all the relevant pictures and names them with XBMC compatible names, BUT the extrafanart and extrathumbs folders are created in the wrong directory. XBMC requires "extrafanart" and "extrathumb" folders to be in the same directory as the relevant movie file. In the case of VIDEO_TS folder structure, that means the extrafanart and extrathumbs folders must be in the VIDEO_TS folder, NOT the main movie folder. Movies\2 Guns (2013)\VIDEO_TS\extrafanart\ Not Movies\2 Guns (2013)\extrafanart\ This testing was done using both Confluence and Aeon Nox skins on latest Stable 12.3 Frodo release. trpltongue 0
Forgot to mention, MB3 is not currently pulling art for "all-seasons". By default this should be the same art as the series art but named: season-all-(poster/banner/fanart).(png/jpg) I should also mention that "landscape.jpg" may be a valid file name in some skins, but it is NOT the standard filename for season fanart, which is what we want.
