I'm sure this is covered somewhere but I checked the Wiki and did a search but can't find it.

 

How do I install a new skin?

There aren't any publicly available ones yet (stay tuned).

 

Once there are, there will be a catalog in the app (or you will be able to install from an url).

Is there a way to modify the one that exists? I'm somewhat competent in HTML, CSS and XML.

My family is having a hard time adjusting to Emby Theater and I may have to try something else. They've been using the original Media Browser since the early days and that interface was really great.

In the original version of MB:

1. The first thing displayed was pages of new additions
2. When we selected an option we could display lots of posters to fit lots of movies and series on the screen
3. When selecting a TV series, all seasons were quickly displayed

The first one is most likely due to library setup. Did you setup your libraries with the Unset content type? You will get more features using the dedicated Movie and TV types.

 

The third one unfortunately is just a delicate balance between displaying metadata vs. just raw navigation. If you want to get to the season list all you have to do is click the down button, or just jump right to your next up episode which is displayed on the series screen.

I've made it so that the spotlight tile shows latest additions and have moved the latest episodes and movies sections to the 2nd position on the movie and TV home pages.

 

You might be able to take some of what I've done and keep tweaking.  I have basically zero css or js skills.
