Clearing all live tv metadata/EPG/cached data?

Hi all,

I had to rebuild my TVHeadend VM and am trying to get LiveTV working again. The problem I'm having is that Emby seems to use all the old channel data, and I can't get it to reliably refresh things like the channel name and icon after updating it in TVHeadend.

I have tried deleting all channels from TVHeadend and doing a refresh, and I have tried deleting metadata/livetv/*, but no dice so far. Every time I reinstall the TVH plugin and do a Guide Refresh I'm stuck with the old channel names and no icons.

Is there a query I can run against a DB or something, or am I looking in the wrong places? How can I make sure all live tv data is cleared so I can ensure I get a fresh lineup? Any ideas, @@Tolotos ?

Thanks,

I found a workaround to get all my channels updated using the TVHeadend plugin and am posting it for future reference. Clearing all channels from TVHeadend and doing a Guide Refresh does not clear the old channel data.

Instead, you must delete all channels except for one, then do a Guide Refresh, re-add the missing channels, and refresh again. If you need to update the one remaining channel, do the process again but with that one channel.

Yea unfortunately that might be true because users can customize those things within emby server after the import, so we don't want to blow away those changes.

I had an issue with my guide data, too. Though I'm using HDHR. To completely rebuild the guide, I had to remove the data source (schedules direct), that started a guide refresh which wiped the data. I then added schedules direct, another scan occurred, and all data was regenerated.

Same issue here - despite deleting the HD Homerun as a source, channels and EPG remained.

I added then a M3U list and Homerun channels remained.

Deleting M3U and I have now M3U & Homerun channels still showing up...

How can I sort this?

Isn't this info cached and removed after the 30 day cache expiration?

I am really not sure, I trybto clear this out so I can add different sources and the old info really causes all the channels line up display incorrectly.

Hi there, please run the refresh guide scheduled task, then when it finishes please attach the emby server log. thanks.

Did you by any chance have a Live TV plugin loaded previously?  I ask because sometimes a plugin can cause issues with Live TV not removing channels.

This is my first time trying set up m3u and epg url by adding the tv sources as m3u tuner and epg url to XmlTV as TV  guide providers. When I try to remove the first provider so I can try another provider to compare their services and that's when I ran into the issue that I reported. I dont remember that I installed live tv plug in or not, but I did uninstall all of the plugins and ran the scheduled task and that seem fixed it.

Hi,

I am also having a lot of problems removing old channels...

As you may have noted from a few other threads I am currently trying to organise my live TV channels and have been using an m3u provide but also editing with m3u4u and xteve. I now (permanently) have old channels showing up (with logos) and unable to remove them. I have tried deleting all playlists and guides, adding back different ones and trying using a just 1 channel hack to get the system working properly but without success. Please advise how best to do this (without completely reinstalling the server)?

Thanks

Hi, we'd have to look at a specific example, but simply edit your m3u sources and then refresh the guide data in Emby Server. Please try that and if you still have an issue, then let's look at it in more detail. Thanks.

That's what I have done... and restarted the server ... but no change. The new channel from the m3u shows up but this is along with the other channels that should have been cleared from the cache when I deleted the playlist...

@cayars is happy to jump on and take a look with you. I can pretty much promise we will find it in the data somewhere :)
