mata7 43
hey guys can some please tell me if is posible to have lav filters as the default decoder video and audio on emby theater for windows 10, the reason is i want to be able to play MKV 3D MVC Thanks in advanced
mguebert 9
I think you would need to replace the internal LAV and MADvr installations with the nightly builds of those programs to enable decoding of FP 3D MVC files. However I am not sure if that's all that would be needed. I think it would be nice if eventually when playing a 3D file that a choice would be given to either play as 2D or 3D
mata7 43
sorry my english is no good, but i have already installed Lav filters both 32$64 bit version, but i dont have a choice on emby to select it as decoder btw thanks for you help
Logos302 86
by default ET uses it own build in version of (Lav filter I believe). I think that the only way at this point is to use an external player that will allow for what your looking for. ET supports external players for different video types. Yes but I think Babgvant said the internal versions could be replaced manually at it should work.
lorac 100
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\COMObjects\LAV That's where all the LAV files are contained for emby and C:\Program Files (x86)\LAV Filters is where they are installed if you install from their website. So make a backup of the emby LAV and then replace with the ones from the website. See how it goes.

lorac 100
It works for me once I register the filters using the batch files in that directory. Sent from my STV100-3 using Tapatalk
babgvant 143
Yes but I think Babgvant said the internal versions could be replaced manually at it should work. Yep. You can replace the filters that ET uses with whatever version you want.
Guest asrequested
Yep. You can replace the filters that ET uses with whatever version you want. Is there a way I can have ET not use LAV for a specific codec? LAV can't process AAC, but ffdshow can. I'd like to be able to use ffdshow for AAC, as I have a lot of movies with stereo AAC so all I get is stereo, even with everything set to 7.1 (I actually have 7.1.2 Atmos). So listening in stereo is quite terrible. ffdshow can process 2 channel AAC to 5.1 AC3 on the fly.
lorac 100
So ffdshow converts stereo to 5.1+? I've never had a problem with LAV playing files but I have noticed that some British shows seem hardcoded to stereo Sent from my STV100-3 using Tapatalk

That's why AAC just gets streamed directly. You can alter the settings for how ffdshow deals with codecs. LAV has similar settings, but they're impotent. ffdshow has a lot more versatility. LAV is more robust, and has HEVC support. Edited June 22, 2016 by Doofus
lorac 100
What's needed is LAV for Android as VLC doesn't cut it for HEVC. What movies don't play properly? For the LAV settings do you have the same results using a different player? There's probably a way to use ffdshow but not easily. Sent from my STV100-3 using Tapatalk No, the way Luke has written ET, he doesn't want 3rd party codecs used. He wants ET to be stand-alone. All I want is the ability to stop ET/LAV from decoding AAC, and let me use ffdshow. I don't have any issue with files actually being played, but playback of AAC doesn't conform to the the audio settings in ET. This is because LAV can't process AAC, so it is output directly. I can play with my receiver settings to process the sound, but I have so many 2 channel AAC movies, that it's a real pain. lorac 100
You should post about this in other forums regarding LAV. I doubt Luke will change ET. ET classic might allow you to do this. Sent from my STV100-3 using Tapatalk

Why do you want to process it on the PC?

Not all of the settings are exposed through the UI though.

I can play with my receiver settings to process the sound, but I have so many 2 channel AAC movies, that it's a real pain. With a stereo AAC soundtrack, I have to change the settings on my AVR each time, then switch back for the rest of the movies/tv. I would prefer to just pick a movie and not have to tweak my settings. The legacy ET allowed us to select which codecs it would decode. All I really want is to process 2 channel AAC on my computer. AAC is for mobile devices, not home theater.
AdrianW 1052
What settings on your AVR are you needing to tweak? I'm getting AAC soundtracks passed to my AVR as PCM, where everything else comes through as DD or DTS. The only thing I need to tweak is the volume.
