Fire Tv questions

I just bought a new Fire Tv 4K, installed the latest Emby server and Kodi 16.0 on the FireTv, it all works great with a few issues -

- when playing back media, I got the message 'cannot direct play', after a few times I got 'switching to http' and since then it plays fine. I haven't changed any defaults. The server is set to 'Auto' for transcoding but so far it doesn't transcode anything and does seem to direct play. I'm using network shares and not local paths to share all media, so is this normal behavior?

- I get subtitles on AC3, but not DTS content. I read in this thread (http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20225-emby-addon-firetv-dts/) that they should work for DTS too?

- Is there any point in using the SPMC fork (this is a Kodi question, thought someone here might know too)

My shared folders are added using UNC paths with network shares, which I verified I can access in Kodi directly using its file manager (i.e. no user/pwd needed), so I believe path substitution is not an issue and should not be needed, correct?

In that case, please post a log with direct playback failing.  Make sure to turn off the 'Play from HTTP instead of SMB' option, which may have turned on automatically.

I reset the Emby addon, updated library and tried again. Here is the relevant log section I think -

I think the problem may be that //mainpc is unaccesible due to DNS but it may work with an IP?

Yep - that is what I was thinking.

Switch to IP will probably fix it if the path is correct otherwise.

I tried adding the same path (using hostname) directly in Kodi and it works, so I figure it must be something else?

Switching to IP would require recreating the library in Emby correct? Before I do that I want to make sure that's the real problem so maybe I'll add another folder but use IP this time.

edit - failed to direct play even when it was added with IP instead.

I got nothing for ya unfortuntely.

If this path is right:

smb://192.168.1.10/Media/Movies2/Timeline (2003)/Timeline (2003).mkv

And you definitely don't need a password - then it should work!
