Live TV when recording but not watching

Hopefully I can word this in a way someone can understand. When recording a show with my HDHomerun Connect through Emby does it transcode that stream or do any CPU intensive work when I'm NOT watching it? 

 

The reason I ask, is I have currently only a Intel G3258 and I've noticed it's not quite capable of handling two devices watching live tv at the same time. Some of the shows I've set to record though run at the same time. I just want to ensure that one recording isn't going to be all jacked up. 

 

Hopefully this won't be an issue for too much longer as I plan on purchasing a 4690K.
