Overseer 66
Good Day, Could external player setup in EMC configuration be based also on tags and not just file-type? I currently have my 3D MVC movies named with the .mk3d extension and external player set to use MPC-BE to play those files (which works great) but have a tendency sometimes to forget to rename the extension from .mkv to .mk3d. With external playback based on tags I won't need to do that anymore and can just merge my 3D movies into my main movie collection instead of separating them out. Possible to implement? Thanks. ebr 14913
It is already possible to define different external players for standard vs. 3D format items.
Overseer 66
Ok, so I went to test this out. I renamed one of my 3D MVC movies from .mk3d to .mkv and set configurator to use MPC-BE as external player for .mkv supported media type and Digital3D for supported video format to test this out. I went into EMC to test this out but ran into an issue with EMC recognizing MVC as a 3D format. Type=Newtonsoft.Json.JsonSerializationException Msg=Error converting value "MVC" to type 'System.Nullable`1[MediaBrowser.Model.Entities.Video3DFormat]'. Path 'Items[58].Video3DFormat',, line 1,, position 234441. I currently have my 3D movies in a separate directory and a separate folder for Emby. I played around with the web metadata manager to identify some of my 3D movies using the new 3D type info. When I try to go into my 3D folder in EMC I get he following error. The emby program has stopped responding and you will be returned to Windows Media Center. This is the same for Classis, Chocolate and Square themes and only happens when I go to the 3D folder. All other folders work fine. Log attached. MBClassic-15220165fa4cf74c3c2435986ab055bddc1e9c1.log Edit: I should mention that this is with EMC version .298. ebr 14913
Yeah, that's going to be an issue due to the change that Luke just made to the server...

Overseer 66
Ok. I'll report back in a few.
Overseer 66
Ok, downloaded and installed .299, but still have the same issue. All folders are accessible except the 3D folder. That is with both Classic and Chocolate themes. MVC error at around 13:54:35 and 13:55:29 mark. Solution ebr 14913 Posted February 16, 2016 Solution Share Posted February 16, 2016 Okay, please try .300. It is a dev version so you will need to change your update level (just in EMC) to see it.

Overseer 66
Ok, EMC no longer crashes with movies tagged as MVC for 3D format using the .300 version. Thank you. This brings me back to the original topic at hand which is having EMC open movies tagged as MVC in an external player. I have a 3D movie file that is created using MakeMKV. It is a 1-for-1 copy. It is saved with the .mkv file extension. I go into Emby web interface to edit the metadata to reflect 3D format as MVC. I go into EMC configurator and select file type as mkv and file format as either Digital3D or SBS-3D it will not play using the external player. If I rename the file with the .mk3d extension and tell configurator to play mk3d files externally it works. MVC files with the mkv extension are not recognized by EMC to play externally. EMC does recognize my SBS encoded files for external playback. Thanks. Edited February 17, 2016 by Overseer
ebr 14913
It should be obeying the configuration for "Digital 3D"...
Overseer 66
It should be obeying the configuration for "Digital 3D"... Unfortunately, it does not. I have the file named as: "Movie (YEAR) 3D MVC.mkv" as reflected in the wiki. I have MVC set in the metadata 3D FORMAT field. I have CONFIGURATOR set to play MKV - DIGITAL3D using external (MPC-BE) player but EMC plays it with the internal player. The video plays as it should in 3D if played directly with MPC-BE so I know it's not an issue with the file itself. Here's the Mediainfo data on one of my MVC files if this will help. Overseer 66
Sorry about the delay, just got off work. Ok, not sure what has changed between yesterday and today, but 3D MVC is now playing correctly using external player. It really is the strangest thing and I can't figure out what has changed. Anywho, it's working correctly now. Consider this issue closed. Thanks.
