HI,

I've upgraded to Synology DSM6 Beta2 -

Because there is no more root- access I cannot update emby anymore. Why it is not possible to provide Emby spks?

If not, what would be a solution?

What type of synology do you have? for the DS415+ I've a modified package with the latest build.

To fix the root acces problem use:

log in with putty with anny admin account,
after that type,
sudo su -
give your admin password.

goto the sudoers file (/etc/sudoers), and open this file in a editor (vi or nano but i prefer to use Midknight Commander),
add at the end the following line,
USER ALL = NOPASSWD: ALL
change USER by your admin username.

open winSCP
on win SCP goto advanced at your loginaccount, and choose the option at SCP SHELL
sudo su -

... so you can use winSCP as ROOT...

Did you login on putty with a account from the administrators group?
ex. user: admin pass:youradminpass
after that type sudo su -
enter youradmin pasword again and now you must have root acces to /etc/sudoers

ex.
vi /etc/sudoers
OR

nano /etc/sudoers

Emby 3.0.5818.0 for the DS415+

It's just Cytect package. I did only remove the checksum and put the new files in to the package, changed the version in the INFO file and that's all. :P
7z Does the trick

Hi Alwin,

the package works great.

Can I do that myself? Is it complicated. What tool do you use?

As I understand that, I have to unpack the package and exchange the files that I find on the download page.

What else?

Hi Alwin,

yes I have root access but how do I change to the directory that you describe. I am a Windows/Mac User. I am not fit in Linux.

Yoy dont have togo to the drirectory when you have root acces you can directly type:

vi /etc/sudoers OR

nano /etc/sudoers

Vi is build-in but a litle complex when you're not familiar with it, but yoy can install Nano and or Midknight Comander.

Both are on the SynoCommunity Package

Hi Alwin,

as I understand, the upcoming version of Emby Server (5868) has a new database structure. I would be fantastic if you can provide another spk when the stable version of the new server is released. Would that be possible?

@@Michael_Schmitz,

I can modify the package as before but it's not a new package. I'm not the creator of the package you know. The original package is from Cytec. The only thing I dit was replace the files in the pakage with the new ones. I use 7zip for that job, and after that modified the INFO file that's all I did/do.

emby_avoton-6.0_3.0.5870.0-8 .spk for the DS415+

Now I have a solid foundation.
