testype 0 Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Hi. What I'm using emby is for mostly hollywoods movies, some american TV shows, and many Japan Animes, Korean TV shows. The problem is, the TV contents other than USA's are not recognized good enough by current TV episode naming conventions (https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/TV-naming) even though metadata system works very well with correct season/episode numbers. Here's the example: - An.American.Show.S01E04.PROPER.720p.HDTV.x265.AnonymousRelease.mkv -> Season 1, Episode 4 (OK) - [AnonymousRelease] A Japanese Anime - 05 RAW (TX 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4 -> Season 1280, Episode 720 (Wrong) - A.Korean.Show.E37.160109.HDTV.H264.720p-AnonymousRelease.mp4 -> Season 1601, Episode 09 (Wrong) Honestly it is fun sometimes to fix them manually, but it would be better if it can be done by itself. Is there any method to control naming convention? If not, is there anyone provide the way to change it or add various contents type other than just "TV"? - Current Emby server version in using: 3.0.5849.22633 Edited January 18, 2016 by testype
Solution ctrlaltdefeat 8 Posted January 18, 2016 Solution Posted January 18, 2016 You could use JMM(Japanese Media Manager) to rename anime to a structure Emby can work with. Or you could look at the Anime plugin. 1
testype 0 Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 You could use JMM(Japanese Media Manager) to rename anime to a structure Emby can work with. Or you could look at the Anime plugin. I wonder why I havn't think about plugin! Thanks I'll try that
TSandman 3 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Anime has weird ways of naming lots of things. Having a few TB of those, I learned to systematically rename all anime files with "{anime title} - S{season}E{episode} - {episode name, if I have it}" The Anime plugin almost always use thetvdb.com to populate metadata (at least on my setup) which means that weird naming convetion à-la Gintama (Gintama, Gintama', Gintama' 2012, etc...) becomes Gintama S01, Gintama S02, etc... Also, most Anime Movies that are part of a series becomes Specials for that series. (Said Gintama movies are in S00 seasons..) I couldn't get the Anime plugin to pull info from anidb.net Note that japanese voice actors name management seems broken, as some Anime reports different romanization for their names (as seen here) some are OK, some aren't
Angelblue05 4131 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Anime needs a lot of work... I wish I knew C# so I could jump in and help. I would really love to get it to behave correctly.
ctrlaltdefeat 8 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Given that the dev of the Anime plugin seems to be MIA, I have made an attempt at it as well, but sadly I just lack the time and skills
Lawrage 13 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) A program I use for renaming my TV series files is Sonarr. While its primary purpose isnt that I just use that feature for my anime shows - works a treat. Edited February 22, 2016 by Lawrage
Angelblue05 4131 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I just think anime should have it's own category, because it needs a different logic than just season episode. If you use absolute numbering, you get really weird behaviors, especially when a show is split in season but in japanese naming, they are actually individual shows. You can't get trakt to work with it either. I hope something can be done about it. I don't use plex but I hear their anime support is far superior.. I hope some real thought will be put into this soon, because it is not an easy or pleasant experience with all the weird bugs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ctrlaltdefeat 8 Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I'm agreeing with you on the category thing. But sadly that's not a thing I expect to happen any time soon As it is now, I'm running 2 Emby servers, one specifically for anime, and the other for everything else. Having it all together only creates a lot of stress because metadata is fetched from both Anidb and TheTVDB
Jordan Humberto de Souza 0 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Got to agree with you all guys... we need more love for anime scrappers and really would love to see a integrated scrapper rather than a plugin for emby, all i`m missing from plex/kodi

A lot of people don't need the baggage of an Anime scrapper. Making it modular allows people to install what they need.
Angelblue05 4131 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 That is fine to make it modular, but to what extend can you modify the server behavior with a plugin? Is it possible for a plugin to create an additional media type and control how the content is being imported in the server, etc? Is this possible? [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Koleckai Silvestri 1150 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 The audiobook and gamebrowser plugins seem to do so. 1

Redshirt 1487 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I think he meant just plain book... The Book and Game objects exist in server. The bookshelf and GameBrowser plugins are just adding 'instructions' for how to identify those objects and where to get metadata from. 1
