Guest topbanana Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) When IDing a movie, the "Identify Item" dialog shows the unidentified title (if not identified), which is fine most of the time. But if the movie is misidentified, then it shows just the 'wrong' title, it doesn't show the original filename. So for movies that i'm not familiar with, like foreign films, etc, it means you have to return to the previous screen, scroll ALL the way to the bottom to then get the filename from the path. Could this filename/path be listed above the "Name:" field? The filename is the source of the identity of the movie. Edited February 15, 2016 by topbanana
Guest topbanana Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 'Identify' is currently broken! So now, emby fails to show ANY details about the item to be identified.Should this now be considered as a bug? We need to be shown as much info as is know about the item to be able to identify it! The bare minimum: Filename and path.Desirable things: Media Info (metadata from the movie file itself), which will give us very useful things as length and any 'title', etc. that may be in the metadata. All will aid the IDing of the file.

Guest topbanana Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Back on topic. We need to see what the hell we're trying to identify!
Guest topbanana Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) So i have a movie that emby doesn't ID automatically. As usuall, often a foreign movie, where the file name is off the following common format that emby still struggles with: "English Name (Original Foreign Name) (1984) (720p)" So, when looking at the unidentified movie's page, click on the 'more' dots button, then 'Identify'Then you're presented with this: This screen is of no use to anyone. Since the unidentified film is probably a foreign of obscure one, you're probably not going to remember the title in the filename, let alone be able to spell it! So this screen needs to show you AT LEAST the filename/path... Or, for added bells and whistles, the 'Media Info' data that it can pull out of the file itself (if the library's disk is online). This used to be ok, but then it got broken recently. It used to fill in the Name with the first part of the filename....Please fix it! Pretty please! Edited March 20, 2017 by topbanana
Guest topbanana Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 The initial request was implemented a while back now. Thanks for that! But it would be very beneficial if we could continue to see the path/filename that you show, on the subsequent pages as well. Definately on the search results page, where it presents the movies its found, and perhaps on the 'okay' page. Then you can always see that you have the right result. Again, there's a good chance that we're not going to be that familiar with the film being identified, especially if it's foreign, so the spelling and more obviously, the year is very critical info to continue seeing when we're trying to pick the correct one. Cheers.
