Shield TV direct play issues but transcoding is fine

I've found a weird workaround, my TV is brand new (no apps); but I found that enabling "direct play" and unchecking use external player if available fixed the issue (can't remember the exact name, but it's the option right under). Interestingly, I don't have other external player installed, so I'm not sure why this help.

 

Also this option comes checked by default when you enable direct play, maybe that should be reconsidered given this.

 

I'll have a look if seek mode was on, I don't remember seeing it.
