I tried doing a forum search for "Disable PIN" but couldn't find anything...

I'm having a lot of trouble as of late with Emby.  It started happening sometime last week.  I noticed that Emby in WMC wasn't finding any of my content (I later learned it was because my fileserver was in standby) so I tried to go through the MB Dashboard to do a manual refresh of of the available files.  It started to load then went blank asking for a username/password.  I never set one up.  So I did a refresh a few times, then the dashboard seemed to load up ok.  Everything looked ok after I realized the WHS was off.  But the username/password concerned me.  I checked the user accounts and found there was only one account listed (Mine, of course).  But it didn't have a password.  I created a password so that next time I need to enter the dashboard I can at least log in.  I also noticed something about a PIN, which looked like something else I needed to configure.  So I did that.  Now whenever I load up Emby in WMC, it prompts me for a PIN.  I can type it in from my remote and then it starts to load.  I don't like it though.  I don't like having to type in something to be able to browse/watch my media.  So I went back into the dashboard and removed it, and unchecked the box enabling it.  The PIN request still comes up though in Emby for WMC.  Is there any way to completely disable/remove it?  It's really annoying.  I'm the only user, so it's pointless to require a login.  I'd also like to disable the requirement to login every time I go into the MB Dashboard if possible.  In fact, it even did it when I tried to log into the website here too.  Very annoyed by it.

Well for the server dashboard just leave the password black if that's what you want

I tried that.  Originally it WAS blank, but it prompted me to log in anyway.  That's what brought this whole thing up to start with.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like it is trying to use MBConnect instead of a direct connect  to access the server.  Check out the settings in the configuration settings in Emby Classic and see if you can change something around there to directly connect and to remember the user.

When you first start up EMC if it can't find your server at the saved address then it will initiate the first-time connection process. We might be able to improve that a little, in the meantime, a workaround is just to make sure the server is up and running first. even if you forget, it's just a click or two to skip the connect feature.

I ended up solving my problem by creating a new user, then disable the original's access to modifying things.  Then I deleted the original.  I then re-created it and deleted the new one.  Seemed to do the trick, but all my watched history is now gone.  Oh well, I can deal with that.

You configured your user to have a PIN required for access so that's what it was doing.

You just needed to turn that back off for that user.

Hello,

The only way to disable pin is to delete user. After remove pin with empty password but issue remains.

Hi.  This topic is almost 10 years old and about a defunct PIN.

Exactly what problem are you having?

I set a pin for a user. Then when open android app it asks for pin.

The I set pin to null and restart android. Emby still asks for pin.

When delete user and recreated issue is resolved.

Thank you.

HI, you don't need to delete the user. The app will figure out that you've removed the pin, but it may require a couple app restarts.

I'm looking to do the same, i must have setup PINS as it asks me every time. How do i go about removing the pin? I couldn't find it on the Password FAQ

Do i just leave the PIN blank and hit "Save PIN?

Yes, or click no when you authenticate and it will not us pin.
