Stuttering after 5-7 min

Hello.

I am experienceing stuttering when streaming to both my android 4.4.4, and surfaceRT tablet.

The first 5-7 minutes are fine, but after that the stuttering begings with 15sek stream then pause.

I have to go very low in bitrate before it stops, around 650kb/s.

Everything works fine when streaming to my labtop, so im sure its not network.

 

My transcoding settings is set to higher speed and throtteling enabled.

 

Any suggestions?

Is the CPU on your server maxing out on the transcode?

no, cpu maxes out in the first 30 sec of playback, after that its around 25%.

I have no problem transcoding to my labtop, running emby theatre.

And this is all in the local network? or over the Internet?

Emby Theater doesn't require anything to be trans-coded. It has all the necessary codecs to play everything directly. I would say that your server is having trouble.

Well.

I found at least some of the solution.

After updating my android phone from kitkat to lolipop, the problem was solved. So i am guessing its an app and android version proplem.

The SurfaceRT still have the problem.

Yeah. Google broke HLS in 4.4.2 I think. They didn't get it together and fix the issue until 5.0. However, Play Movies and TV still worked as did YouTube. Go figure.
