So did some more upgrades this week..............

Upgraded the HTPC with an MSI A78M-35 mobo, 16GB of Ram, and an AMD A8-7650K APU.   So far very happy with it and a sizable upgrade from the previous.  Also upgraded my Domain Controller/DNS box, replaced it with a Cisco UCS C200 M2 with a Xeon X5570, and 24GB of RAM which is a huge upgrade over my previous box.

I am fairly certain my wife will be serving me with divorce papers soon though lol

well I slowly upgraded to a better server over the years, I started on a core 2 duo laptop, 4gb ram and 2 1.5tb external drives. Then I built a desktop and have upgraded it twice since then.

New server build is commencing. My case just came today. :)

Specs so far:

Norco RPC-4220

Intel Xeon E3-1220v2

Supermicro X9SCM

16GB Supertalent DDR3-1333 ECC

Zalman 500W Heatpipe Cooled PSU (just one I had laying around for testing - I'll upgrade before the final build)

CPU + Mobo + RAM = $200 on Ebay (wholesaler server pull -- with warranty, and I did a 24hr stress test and verified everything works great)

Case = $275 on Ebay (brand new in sealed box, with 120mm fan wall and dual OS drive mounting option)

I just ordered all new cooling fans:

ARCTIC Alpine 11 Plus CPU Cooler

3x ARCTIC F12 PWM PST

2x ARCTIC F8 PWM PST

6x Silverstone CPF03 PWM Fan Power Extension Cable

Swiftech 8-way PWM Fan Splitter

Cooling equipment = $120 on Amazon

Did some more major upgrades on mine.

Emby is now running on a dedicated Dell R-810 with (4) Xeon L7555's for a total of 32 cores 64 threads.  128GB of Ram

Storage got upgraded to with a pair of QNap TS-809u's running through iSCSI to the main server on dedicated nics/vlan.  I can easily saturate 2Gbps between each of them and the server simultaneously.  one has (8) 1.5TB drives in RAID 5 for now, the other (4) 1TB in RAID 5 and (4) 500GB in RAID 5

Upgraded to 8 tuners on the HTPC and added a pair of 3TB drives for recorded TV also new motherboard, an AMD A8-7550k and 16GB of RAM

Domain controller/DNS is now a Cisco UCS B200 with a single Xeon X5770 and 24GB of RAM56464e72f1575_20151029_174019.jpg56464e849f198_20151029_174009.jpg
