MBS - Scheduled task to find and populate missing metadata files

It seems that the library scan won't (always) identify cases where there is missing metadata files.  For example, I have a couple of shows that have series xml files but there are missing episode xml files for some episodes.  If I perform a library scan, it doesn't pick up the fact that the episode metadata files are missing.  The only way to populate the episode files is to run a refresh manually on the episode.  It would be nice if the library scan would handle this, or if there was another type of task that could be run to look for missing metadata files and automatically generate these.
