Hello,

With the rumours abound of a fourth generation Apple TV to be announce at this year's WWDC. I was wondering if it is a possibility of an Apple TV client, when the SDK is released.

If they actually release an SDK and allow us to build an app for it that is available via the store, then heck yeah.

That would be awesome! Can't wait for WWDC. It will be good to finally see Apple TV with an App Store, instead of having to jailbreak to get the functionality we need. And would save having to have the Xbox 360/One on all the time, and waiting for Microsoft to release the SDK and store access for third parties.

Seems you are choosing to wait upon one of two evils;)

Can't something be done like the aTV Flash (xbmc edition)?

The biggest problem that I still can't neatly solve is the idea of an extender. All the Living Room apps (besides Roku) require a PC. I am still running an XBox 360 for my extender! The Android TV (on say the Nexus Player) looks promising.

But a client on the Apple TV I would happily pay for! Especially if it supported the live TV streams and such.

This doesn't work on the newer AppleTV Devices. It only works on the first generation devices.

There is a jailbreak for Apple TV 3. Haven't tried it yet though.

If there's a Python developer who's feeling bored, they could always try to do a fork of PlexConnect. it's a method of highjacking the Apple Trailers app to redirect requests to a local Plex server and return data in the Apple XML format. It works pretty well and I would think Emby could perform a similar role.

Yeah I've seen that and did use it in the past when I used to use plex. It does work fairly well but was quite advanced to set up the last I tried. If rumours are to be believed a new Apple TV is on the way with an App Store. Once this happens a better route will be to get the Emby iOS app into that store.

Hello,

Now that the new Apple TV and tvOS SDK have been announced, will an Emby app be made available?

An update on the progress of this would be good. Also, if an Apple TV cagtegory could be added to the forum where the iOS, Windows, etc. specific pages are would be good too.

Is it bad practice to post this sort of thing here? :) Any update on that ATV app? Or did I already miss the announcement?

Well it's definitely bad practise to post it the second time;)

Hi guys,

I don't know how far the AppleTV app progress is, but I would like to volunteer for beta or alpha tests, if needed. I did not see any other suitable way to contact the team, so I hope this will be enough to declare my willingness.

At the moment I am using a combination of an HTPC with Kodi (and Emby for Kodi) together with the Apple TV. I would love to switch everything over to the AppleTV, if the audio will work properly. I mostly got DD or DTS(-HD) content, which I assume has to be transcoded.

Available DLNA client apps for the AppleTV are either pretty slow or can not play files from the Emby server.

So, if there is any way of applying for an alpha/beta test, I would really like to know :)

Regards,

Bondfreak

What is the status on the apple tv app?  I have been waiting for months now resisting the itch to switch to Plex.

We are getting closer :).

Am sure this is amazing for people who are willing to buy a new ATV. What do you have for us who are stuck on the old ATV3 ???
