When attempting to launch N64 games from GB3, Project64 launches, but I receive an error message saying "Unable to open file." However, I can click File, Open Rom, and find the ROM and then it works fine. Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me?

did you use UNC pathing when setting up your games directory?

Could be a problem with the switch for the emulator. But im not at my pc at the moment to help

The Mediabrowser classic log will show the command line used.

Sorry guys, I'm very low level on the knowledge base, I don't even know what UNC pathing is :unsure: I havent used emulators since using zsnes 12 years ago in high school computer class. I only just discovered emulators for newer systems, and just installed dolphin today(but I seem to have the same problem as with project64, but with a longer error message) As with project 64, I can open the game once in the emulator, but the direct launch doesnt work.

I'm guessing you're using MB classic?

Using a UNC path just means using the shared network path, not the local path on the hard drive. You can enter this manually as well.

When you open the Mediabrowser classic configurator, go to plugins > gamebrowser, what is the switch used for N64?

I'm not running MBC right now, but I thought the switch in the GB config was just {rom}, can someone confirm that?

Dolphin I believe was --exec={rom}

AWESOME!, Dolphin games are fixed, I had the switch wrong. Well the Wii games are right, I can't try the gamecube games yet due to the metada not populating, and so the games don't show up in MBC. However still having issues with the N64 emulator. I tried changing to the network path, but now games shows up in MBC, so i changed the path back the regular K drive.

gamecube should be the same switch if you're using dolphin, im sure someone on here can post the switch for project 64 for you since my games arn't set up at the moment

The default {Rom} should work.

I have the default {rom} set, but it doesn't work for project64. Also, do you happen to know why my Gamecube games metadata aren't populating? I verified the folder titles with those on thegamesdb.net

I take it you've marked the game folder as Nintendo64 and the game files are of one of the following extensions. ".z64", ".v64", ".usa", ".jap", ".pal", ".rom", ".n64", ".zip"

I have the folder just marked N64 "K:\My Media\My Games\N64\Games" and yes I have multiples of .z64 and .v64

In the gamebrowser server configuration, that folder is set as Nintendo64?

yes

ok. Go into the server dashboard. In the task section, run the start new log file task and then run the scan media library task. When it's done, let me see that log.

for version 1.6 of Project64 you have to use {rom}

if you use "{rom}" with the quotes then the emulator complains that it can't find the file.

It's in their faq here.

Thanks a lot Redshirt! I just assumed it would require the quotes same as all the other emulators <_<
