SMR619 1
If I install the server to my PC and then this app to my Samsung tablet, can it cast to my Samsung Smart TV using DLNA? I currently use Plex server and their Samsung smart TV app, but their Android app does not cast unless I use a Chromecast which to me seems a little redundant. I'm basically looking to use my tablet as a remote with eye candy and then select from there to play on my TV. I currently use imediashare to do this but it's not so fancy. DaN 47
Similar was discussed http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/18424-cast-to-samsung-player/ Regards, DaN
SMR619 1
I see that thread talks about casting to the Samsung TV APP. I dont have that and understand it's issues. What I am talking about is just having the Android phone/tablet APP "cast" or, "play to" my TV through DLNA. As I mentioned, imediashare does this, only the Android APP isnt so pretty. Mainly folder icons and tiny posters.
CBers 6882
There are no issues with the app and it'll work better than DLNA. Install it and then come back if you have questions.

What does "imediashare" have that the Android app doesn't, apart from DLNA/PlayTo support? Can you supply screenshots from imediashare so the devs can review please. CBers 6882
Also, you could always use the Web Client to PlayTo your TV.
SMR619 1
To be clear. My set up. PLEX server on PC - iMediashare Android APP on Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 I start up my server and then browse my library on my tablet through iMediashare. I select what I want to watch and press the "cast" icon and I get a popup asking what to cast to and I select my TV. My selection starts playing. Now I was hoping the Plex Android APP would do this but they havent implemented it and who knows if they will. So far if you want to cast to a TV from their Android APP, you need a Chromecast. Now what I was wanting to do ws move away from Plex entirely if MediaBrowser can serve my needs. That is I install the server on my PC, install the Android APP on my phone and/or tablet, then be able to "cast" my selection to my Samsung TV. About iMediashare. It does what I want, it's just not as fancy as the MediaBroswer APP or Plex APP, for Android. It's kinda vanilla.
Luke 37994
The answer is yes - the android app will display Dlna devices that have been detected by your server and will allow you to cast to them.
SMR619 1
Excellent. Now off to set it all up.
SMR619 1
OK so I installed the server. I added a small folder to test it all out. I installed the Android APP. It's not casting. In the DASHBOARD, I have selected my [TV] Samsung LED55 DLNA at the top right corner option. On the APP I can choose a movie then press the cast icon and I select [TV] Samsung LED55 Nothing is happening. Icon turns a solid White as if something is going on but nothing starts playing on my TV. My TV has the server listed and if I go to DLNA when I click SOURCE on the TV remote, I can sellect the server and browse as well as play. Any ideas? Maybe a setting I have not set? EDIT: Nevermind. I got it! My TV flashed a deny or allow and I missed it. All is awesome! I guess goodbye Plex! Edited February 28, 2015 by SMR619
