tymanthius 18
I can check, but the owner it tymanthius:media, and mediabrowser is in the media group. And with the files I've used to test, group has rw permissions. Changing ownership has no effect. Edited February 13, 2015 by tymanthius
tymanthius 18
Also a note: This morning MB3 was using about 6.5GB of memory. It hung on something. I stopped it, want me to post the log again?

Sorry it took so long to hit me. You are going to need to install a version of ffmpeg that as all of these encoders. It has been a while since I have used Ubuntu so I am not sure how relevant this documentation page is but it is wort a look. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FFmpeg?action=show&redirect=FFMpeg
tymanthius 18
I'll wait on posting the log. I saw that, and wondered, but I don't understand how it could NOT have those . . .
tymanthius 18
Ah - I forgot about the kerfluffle around ffmpeg with libav (or whatever) and how Ubuntu started using the forked version. Updated to "real" ffmpeg & it's working. Thanks guys.
thefirstofthe300 291
Glad to hear. I don't know why Canonical forked ffmpeg and went with libav.
tymanthius 18
I don't think it was Canonical that forked it, but I do know they went with libav. What amused me was that ffmpeg looked at libav's mods, liked 'em, and just kept wrapping them back in.

deverse 0
I was getting all of the same missing encoder errors on my server, and after updating my packages most of the errors were resolved. However I am still not able to stream any content and still seeing one particular encoder error that I can't seem to get to install. I am a complete Unix novice- could someone please explain to me in layman's terms how to get the specific encoder listed below installed? 2015-09-25 00:32:17.7034 Error - App: ffmpeg is missing encoder libx265
