hedgehogg 104 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Hi just wondering if there is an easy way to turn subtitles on / off during a film rather than having to visit the system tray everytime? Win 7 MPC Latest DEV build LAV + xy-VSFilter
ebr 15667 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Not with LAV. If you are willing to go through the setup of ffdshow and installing MediaControl, it is possible although not exactly seamless. There are some guides out here in the KB I believe.
ronvp 92 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 there are some external players that will do it also.. I also recommend for you to read the instructions on the LAV splitter advanced subtitle selection here http://1f0.de/lav-splitter/lav-splitter-stream-selection/ It may allow for you to configure LAV subtitle selection to better suit you need. AS EBR said, you can also use FFDshow Video codec (at least as good as LAV, but no longer updated). I suggest you still use the LAV splitter. FFDshow will even allow keyboard short cuts to disable/enable subs..
Solution thefever 2 Posted December 4, 2014 Solution Posted December 4, 2014 I'm not using MPC, but I toggle subtitles in media center with LAV and DirectVobSub using MCE Remote Plus http://www.headsoft.com.au/?category=mce#. DirectVobSub is similar to xy-vs filter if I remember correctly. 1

DirectVobSub is similar to xy-vs filter if I remember correctly. Yes I too use this method. Works well, however I find it only works for me with external .srt files, not sub/idx. Also an OSD notification would be nice (like MediaControl) -- but it does the job.
pgriffith 73 Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I described how to set this up in another thread awhile back. Here you go http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/12130-toggle-opensubtitles-during-playback/?p=143866 I find it does work with all types of subtitles, it may be dependent on codecs ? I find the best codec pack you can have is Sharks http://shark007.net/win8codecs.html very highly regarded. Cheers
hedgehogg 104 Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Thanks for the help peeps - Installed MCE Remote - set up the TAB button to toggle subs on / off - then went into IMON setup and set the timer button to do TAB - sorted
