k_huntington 1 Posted Friday at 04:12 PM Posted Friday at 04:12 PM so i'm giving emby a try from a competing platform, and i already have all my folders and libraries and what not set up on the nas. i figured best practice would be to start a library in emby, point it to the corresponding directory on the nas, and let it cook for a few days. but it seemed to me like it timed out?? after about 18 hours it was no longer churning through data like it was earlier. the hardrive would would make some noise, but only at like a few ticks per minute. and when i check diagnostics within TOS, it shows like no hard drive activity at all, then a short spike of like 2mbps, then nothing again. and i can't seem to find a way to monitor the scanning process to get real time feedback. on plex i can go to the dashboard and see exactly what it's doing "acquiring metadata for big bang theory season 1" or whatever. can i see what emby is doing under the hood so i can tell if it needs any help or at least know it's still thinking?? or would a better method be to start a library from an empty folder and slowly add content to it in small chunks and have it catalogue in parts??
Neminem 807 Posted Friday at 05:07 PM Posted Friday at 05:07 PM You can open your logs in a separate windows and refresh to see if it's doing anything. Things like Markers and Video Preview Thumbnails will slow it all down. When I create an new library I turn them off, for the first run through. After that I set it to a scheduled.
Luke 39783 Posted Friday at 05:28 PM Posted Friday at 05:28 PM @k_huntington Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
k_huntington 1 Posted Friday at 06:07 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:07 PM shoot. i didnt even think about looking at the log. here's a snippet for when i deleted the library and started a smaller one for a test. according to the log it looks like it was working when i cut it. i guess since the nas didnt sound like a geiger counter in chernobyl i thought that it just stalled out. started a new library with the previous mentioned features off, so we'll see how it's looking here later tonight or tomorrow or whatever. thanks. embyserver-63882345602.txt
