I found that when I hit the back arrow(at the top left corner) from the playing screen back to Emby, it keeps bringing me to portrait position even when I use an iPad in landscape mode. It’s so annoying that I have to rotate the iPad to portrait and back to landscape again to go back to landscape mode.

Oh, I just realized that Emby can’t do split-screen mode anymore. Please bring it back!

Are you saying you did it before?

As I recall, Yes, Emby can be used in split-screen mode.

I see this too on my iPad. Orientation is messed up after the latest update. It doesn’t respect the iPad orientation lock setting (iPad is locked to landscape mode). There’s also a problem when stage manager is enabled, the screen size is shrunk.

iPad m1 11”

iPadOS 18.4.1

Same her. When watching a movie in landscape mode and the movie is finished (or you press the back arrow), the screen flips to portrait while still being in landscape.

Since I posted I discovered a few things (iPadOS)…

Going to Settings > playback on the Emby app and locking the screen orientation to landscape locks the screen to landscape when playing a video. Older app releases followed the iPad’s Lock Screen setting.

But it seems that there’s a bug when displaying the library.

Stage Manager enabled:

If Stage Manager is enabled, If anything is played, stoped and the back arrow is tapped to go back to the library it shrinks the display. Must be minimized and launched again to have it in full screen. Even using the “…” menu at the top and choosing “enter full screen” does not work. This repeats after playing a video and going back to the library.

~~~~~~~~~
Stage Manager disabled:
Playing videos locks them to landscape if the playback is locked to landscape in settings. However, the screen rotates to portrait when going back to the library.
I hope this helps speed up fixing the problem.
Thanks
I have a similar problem that may or may not be related to yours.
My problem is the video player ALWAYS defaults to the device’s actual orientation and is ignoring rotation lock.
In my attached video I have rotation lock set to portrait but the device is actually positioned in landscape. When opening a video the video player will rotate to landscape.
Physically rotating the device to portrait does not result in the video going to landscape so it has to be ignoring rotation lock. This is *not* shown in the video
Edit: also in the video I demonstrate that enabling and disabling screen lock will have the video player “remember” to rotate back based on the rotation lock setting. This is actually experience ruining for me and I know I’m just one guy so who cares. But I’m using plex for the mean time.
I came to report the same two issues.
The latest iPad app update has broken split-screen functionality and is ignoring the device's rotation lock setting.
Having the same rotation bug also, when backing out of a video.
Just adding my name to the list. iPad app is giving us rotation issues just as described in this thread.
Same issue here.
Hmm.  So now (2.2.39) on the iPhone, the landscape lock works on playback, but at the end Emby still reverts to portrait while being held in landscape - and on the iPad, the lock setting has disappeared completely.
Mobile update worked for my android phone.  Perhaps there is a similar fix for iPhone.  In my case the screen rotation issue was a phone software bug that required an update to fix.
I already reported failure; but I deleted it and reinstalled, with no change.  For me 2.2.39 doesn't even have the rotation setting visible in the app display settings.
The option is no longer there on the iPad. It just follows the system setting. That's the only way to support the split-screen feature.
Well, that's a bummer - and because of something I have never used...
