Google appending photo info as name.camera mode.jpg and photos won't display.

See photo.  Google is exporting as jpg,  but appending original photo format and camera mode  as name.format.Original format.filetype  Emby seems to be having an issue with it and will not display files with additional appended information withe the . separator.

To be clear, these show up in the library display, but will not display full size.

I can potentially see an issue with any image the has Poster or Cover in its name as having issues and those could be media primary images.

Will most likely need to see the server log from when these images were imported into Emby.

All that aside, whether it says cover, original or poster, none of it is displaying.  By your naming theory, the Original files should display. 😀

As much the issue may be HOW these are being exported and whether that is adding the extra naming, because emby is doing the exporting from Google.  What I can tell you is that the files were shot in RAW AND JPG.  Both files are available on Google.  I use DNG/Raw format as I typically import the ones I want into Adobe Lightroom for editing.

In all the times I have exported files I have never seen this naming convention before.

I will grab a log the next time I see an import for you though.

What do you see in Emby?

Can only guess the image processor is having issue reading the images that thinks they are jpg but they are not for your dng files, so we need to see the server log from when the images were imported and think the other jpg poster/cover are do to primary image naming scheme.

But all anyone can do is guess without logs or actual images to test with.

The thumbnail page is populated.  But when I go to view them, there is just a blank page instead of a full size image.

I exported a photo from google as a jpg the other day and emby exported that as a jpg only a day later.  That file shows as a thumb and full image.

The files in question open in Ubuntu and show as jpg, add to that Ubuntu does not handle RAW/DNG  nativity.  It's why I only have folders with JPG conversions in my Photo library.

Can you please show screenshot examples? Thanks.

embyserver.txt

BTW, the file is being named as filename.camera mode.dng.jpg.  Why the DNG is there I don't know apart from the fact they are being stored in both formats and yet just the jpg is downloaded.

A question for Google I guess....

Are they named the same way on the device?

They are EXCEPT,  there are seperate JPG and DNG files on the device.

....and it appears download is attempting to download both files but somewhere along the way the dng is getting turned into a jpg - which appends the type to the file.

From Today....  (had to zip the files because forum refused to upload the .dng file.)

Photo shop seems to see the files as jpg as well.   Is it possible to discard the .dnf.jpg files?  or redirect them?

In my test of that zip original displayed upside down in 4.8.0.11 and cover did not display until I renamed as cover is part of Emby Primary image detections as listed above.

both are jpgs as extentions are removed so naming scheme is decieving as it is not a dng.

Note rotation issue is resolved in 4.9.0.x beta

removing the false jpg extention shows dng file

Were these taken by the stock camera app?

Yes.  Google's camera app got much more complex on my pixel 8 than on previous models.

Have you looked at each file with Mediainfo?  There is a difference.

When the server accepts the camera upload, we will probably need more logging there to determine what's going on.

Yes.  I believe Google changed something due to users "having problems" downloading DNG's. (although getting them using Takeout is simple.....)

Which is interesting as Photoshop says the .dng.jpg file is an HDR JPG file.  So if you have an hdr display and interpreter it displays as HDR, which it does.

Named with just the .jpg extension the file, Windows and Linux default photo viewers open both files no problem, which should also be normal because it should open as a JPG if HDR is not available.

New to me,  and to Mediainfo that says its a Tiff and then says it's an HDR JPG.
