Keith_G 0 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Hi. My setup is Emby Windows Server with FireTV sticks. I (apparently fatally) marked an entire series (Good Morning America, aka GMA) as Played. Now I get very weird behavior with that series when it records a daily episode.... On FireTV: 1. Tuning to the same channel as the current recording in progress of GMA I do see "Recording Now" BUT I don't get the option to "Play from beginning". If I try to go backward on that show to the already recorded part, it doesn't work. 2. Once the recording of GMA is finished, GMA may or may not appear on the top of Recorded TV shows list (I have them sorted by 'date last episode added') 3. It seems like the "Played" flag remains set for the series no matter what I do. (Checking the played button again and confirming 'mark all as unplayed" doesn't clear it. 4. Eventually (like sometime every day) GMA falls to the bottom of the recorded shows list and clicking on it shows NO episodes. Once I tried to delete the series and the recording schedule, let it sit for about a day and tried to re-add the series. The behavior remained. I do see some errors in the log file around that same time. Not sure if it's related or not. I've tried everything I can think of, to no avail.... HELP PLEASE! Thank you, Keith Gilbreth embyserver.txt
Luke 39648 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Hi there, are you able to clear the played status using the emby web app?
Keith_G 0 Posted April 11 Author Posted April 11 Hi. At the moment, in the Web App, the series and the only episode are marked as unplayed. BUT there is only a single episode in the web app (todays). It should have 7 I believe. I feel like something is cleaning things up that shouldn't be. Here's yesterday's log in case that helps. embyserver-63879926399.txt
Keith_G 0 Posted April 11 Author Posted April 11 All 7 episodes are in the series folder. And now, going back to the Web interface, I can see all of them whereas I couldn't an hour or so ago... Very odd. FireTV now shows all of them too. Only thing I have been doing during this time is adding a new library and adding items to a manually created collection, none of which has anything to do with TV... Maybe that generated a refresh of TV and such?? [Pure speculation]: It might be that when the new episode of GMA starts recording, somehow that flags every episode and he series as played? I'm really stumped at this one. I've done SW/HW testing for many years and have no idea. What can I get you that will help to debug this? Thanks in advance Luke, You rock!
Luke 39648 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Did you try clicking into the one episode? They might be all getting merged together as multiple versions of the same episode.
Keith_G 0 Posted April 11 Author Posted April 11 Not sure where you wanted me to try that, but... Clicking on one episode and then shows 2 different episodes in all 3 locations (.ts files in the folder, Web Interface, and FireTVStick)

Keith_G 0 Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 First, an edit to the above statement: Clicking on one episode and then ANOTHER shows 2 different episodes in all 3 locations (.ts files in the folder, Web Interface, and FireTVStick). Web Screen below. This morning in the web app, I see only one episode (as seen below) even though the folder has 7. I did see in the log something about "weekend edition" I think... they are all named the same (Weekday and weekend). I wonder if that is messing things up somehow??? Luke 39648 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 HI, and then when you click on the episode, what does that screen look like?
Keith_G 0 Posted April 13 Author Posted April 13 Well... now that I'm back (7 hours later) and look, they're all back!! This is what's driving me nuts!
Keith_G 0 Posted April 13 Author Posted April 13 This morning (Sunday), almost an hour after the show ended, I'm back to a single episode (Todays). Clicking on it in the web page shows as seen below. Clicking "Play" from that page works as expected. I'm pretty confident the rest will appear again at some point today.... ugh.
Keith_G 0 Posted April 14 Author Posted April 14 Hi. This morning (Monday) about 15mins after the show ended, there are no episodes listed at all (both on FireTVStick and in web page). I then did a Library Scan on the web page and they all appear. Is there a way to do a library scan on the FireTV app? I haven't found it if so. What's most frustrating is that we watch a different recorded show (news) on FireTVStick and then want to watch GMA, but most of the time, there are no episodes of GMA to watch and I haven't found a way to make them appear.
Luke 39648 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Hi, so it sounds like you just need to run a scan. We'll look at improving this so that it isn't necessary. Thanks.
Keith_G 0 Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 Thanks. It's very annoying since I have to go to the other room and sign in on a web page to do this....

Hi, I see you have: DVR Recordings Recorded Movies Recorded TV Shows Can you explain what/how each of these is used on your system? What do you have setup for these 3 Live TV Advanced Tab options? If this happens again, try going to Live TV and then navigate to the Recordings option on the top tab/menu. Do you see you content in this "Recording" area? Carlo
Keith_G 0 Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 Hi. I have the following setup: These map to: "E:\DVR\Recordings", "E:\DVR\Recordings\Movies", and "E:\DVR\Recordings\TV" respectively. The goal is to have recorded movies and recorded TV shows in separate folders and different groups. This happens every day. I will check above the guide tomorrow to see if it shows recording. Thanks!
Keith_G 0 Posted Thursday at 05:26 PM Author Posted Thursday at 05:26 PM (edited) Hi Carlo, So I checked this morning... All data below (unless specified otherwise) is from a FireTVStick 0. While GMA was recording, I went to "DVR Recordings". The GMA icon is there, but there are absolutely NO episodes or seasons. 1. Then, while GMA was still recording, I went to live TV and selected the channel it's on. It shows me "Recording Now", but does NOT offer the option to "Play from the beginning" 2. Scrolling up and selecting "Recordrings" on the top menu, I do not see any instances of GMA at all. 3. Went to the web app and hit "Refresh Library" while recording was still in progress. It didn't change a thing on FireTVStick. 4. It's been about 11/2 hours since the show ended, and now... The 7 episodes are now all there on FireTVStick. I've sent a few logs but I guess they have not helped. Show airs from 7am-9am Pacific time. Let me know what I can do to assist here. Thanks! Edited Thursday at 05:32 PM by Keith_G
Luke 39648 Posted Friday at 06:43 AM Posted Friday at 06:43 AM Can you try setting the default recording folder back to blank, then remove the library called "dvr recordings" from emby library setup. Then run a scan of all libraries. How do things compare after that?
Luke 39648 Posted Friday at 06:44 AM Posted Friday at 06:44 AM Also I would suggest updating to Emby Server 4.8.11.
