Unable to perform Emby Server setup with ADM5.0 on AS5404T 4GEN2

Hello everyone,
The problem: Reinstalling Emby Server 4.8.11.0 under ADM version 5.0 generates an "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" when I try to access the website to perform the setup.

I then contacted Asustor with the following info:
Hello Support Team, Unfortunately, since the ADM update to 5.0 I
can't use my Emby Server. Even a reinstallation did not help see the
steps The following steps were taken: 1. Go to App Central and install
the available version of Emby Server (4.8.11.0) 2. Then I go to App
Central to: My Apps -> Installed - Emby Server and click on the open
icon in the browser. 3. a browser window opens and I get the error
message: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE So I can't even run the setup Furthermore
I have no FW switched on neither from windows nor in adm. I tried to
log in from a linux mint computer and from another win11 and get the
same error message. Since I use the BETA of ADM the Emby server does
not work anymore.

Answer from Asustor:
Hi XXXX

We found that the app could not work out under ADM5.
However, since the app is developed by Emby LLC, please contact Emby support to request the revised app version (https://emby.media/support/).

Unfortunately I was not aware that with the upgrade I have to do without Emby Server.

I still hope that someone can help me.

Hi Luke if I can help in any way be it with logs or testing something just let me know because I can also test premium account thus the server with all its extras if that helps you.

Hi, we've assigned it to our build and packaging developer to test 5.0 and get our packages up to speed with it. If you follow the release notes for the server beta that's the best way to know when there's an update for it. Thanks.

Hello, I have the AS6704T and have updated to ADM 5.0 beta. I can no longer get into emby, whether via IP in the LAN or with DDNS.
I would be very happy if you could offer a solution in a timely manner. 


Emby Server Version: 4.8.11.0

Hello @alucryd, what have you changed? I think reinstalling the same version will not work, you will have to go one version higher.

The changes are related to the bundling of glibc.

But uninstalling I don't think removes your data folder, right? So you should be able to do that and still keep everything.

Yeah, it's safe to uninstall and reinstall, we don't delete anything.

I'd rather wait for an update for the stable version.

I don't want to lose any data after deleting and reinstalling.

I have just tried it and I still have the same problem. Unfortunately nothing has changed. 😥

What exactly did you do? What exactly happened?

I downloaded the file from dropbox.
I installed Manuel via app center and selected all the standard options.
Reboot the NAS.
and then tried to open the setup and I got the same error message as at the beginning: : ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

Where exactly is the error?
ASUSTOR has updated the Linux kernel with ADM 5.0, is this perhaps the problem? All apps work on my NAS, except emby which does not work.

When I try to open emby I get the error “ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED”

Can I expect a fix in the near future? According to ASUSTOR, this is not an ASUSTOR error, but an emby error.
You have to adapt emby to ADM 5.0.

I just picked up an Asus 3304T V2 the other day, and had the same problem.

I had an issue where something within 20 port numbers (default in ADM is 8000 for HTTP) created an issue where connection to emby failed, just like you show.

So I set them like this, far away from emby's port number,  and smooth sailing after I changed the connection settings in my browser to the new port for the NAS.   This should not be the case but I have found with NAS devices and truncated OS's on them, sometimes things don't work quite like they should....or like expected.

All that will happen is you need to change the port in the address you use to connect to the server with your browser.

That's not the problem with the ports, I have the ports for adm and emby far apart. Everything was fine until the adm 5.0 update. According to an asustor employee it is due to the new Linux kernel which was updated by asustor and therefore emby no longer works. Something has changed in the code. 

 

@Lukehow long do you need for a fix? I have emby Premiere and have not been able to use it for 1 week. :(

Hi @Luke how do you find out that this problem has been fixed? Do you offer the fix as a stable or BETA version?

 

Maybe it would not be wrong to post a message when announcing that emby does not work with ADM 5.0, so that not more users update their NAS.

As far as I can tell 4.9 works just fine with ADM 5.0, only 4.8 has a problem
