Sushiba 2 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Good day guys, could anyone explain how flac streamin works in emby? i have 24/96 flacs for example, but when i stream them via cellular "info" shows either: Stream FLAC (1mbps) >direct playback Audio Flac stereo 1mbps 44100 -> direct playback or: Stream: FLAC (3mbps) ->HLS (384kbps) Audio: FLAC stereo 3mbps 96000 Hz -> transcoding (AAC 384 kbps) usually its the second when i start playing, then it turns into direct playback, sometimes back to the second one... cellular connection and speed is good and abov 20mbps. I have an SQ system with 24/96 toslink input in my car and would really love to hear 24/96, not 44100 Do i miss some settings on server side or android app? Thanks

What are all the quality settings that you see? The audio and video quality options are on the same screen.

Oh i thought that's for video playback only... but still i can only set it to 2mbps and it still transcodes via cellular... when im playing through home network via wifi it direct-streams 96k Just to clarify, my cellular bandwidth is around 25-30/8-10mbps so it shouldn't be an issue..
Solution Sushiba 2 Posted March 15 Author Solution Posted March 15 Found the solution finally... its in USER SETTINGS on server side... unchecked the transcoding and container change options and it direct plays now! anyway thanks for the suggestions, othwerwise i wouldn't step on the right path
Luke 39697 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I would use the quality settings instead. Those transcoding permissions will cause playback failures in some situations. Make sure to read the help text underneath the options.

Luke 39697 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 They're right in your screenshot, however they max out at 2 mbps. We'll have to add options that go higher than that. Thanks.

Thanks. still it didn't work for me... probably because of cellular and me being driving across the city from cell to cell i guess... so i'll keep the transcoding for audio off for now and see how it goes... two days with no problems

We'll add higher options to that list and then you can use that instead of having to disable transcoding. 1
