Apologies - I know this topic has been discussed before, but since it's been a few years & this isn't exactly the same...

Assuming I can figure out how to automatically add tags and/or keywords that match all of the people identified in each image,

1. Is there an ideal format that'd make it easiest to browse for or search Emby for people's names? Is it better to use "tags", "keywords", or maybe some other bit of EXIF data?

2. Is there a "best practice" for adapting the existing TV/Movie data set for photos, like adding people in the photo as "actors" for example? Or is it better to use "title" or "sort title", naming all images like "firstname_lastname_001.jpg", firstname_lastname_002.jpg", etc.?

Lingering Dreams - My 2 goals for my photo libraries in Emby remain:

  • Batch-export my "People" album in a way that would generate folders with people's names as the titles, in a way that would make sense when browsing or searching for photos in Emby. Like the album dream below, I'd love to be able to assign an identity/face in Mac Photos & then a copy of that photo is added (or existing file updated) to the corresponding directory in Emby.
  • I still haven't found a solution that'll accomplish what I've always wanted to do with Emby, which is having albums in Mac Photos that match up with directories in my Emby library, and automatically copy new photos when added, so that my Emby library includes new photos as soon as they're added to my local albums.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi, you might not like this but my suggestion would be to wait until we add direct support for it. If you must, you could always use keywords and then they will be imported as tags.

Can you explain what you mean by this a little bit more? I don't quite understand. Thanks.

When you edit metadata for movies, you can add names for writers, actors, etc. You have this same ability with photos, so I was thinking maybe I could add people's names as "actors", making them searchable that way. Ultimately I'd really like to be able to automatically generate a clickable list of names that'd let you pull up all photos containing those people without having to manually produce libraries by family like I have today, where I have multiple copies of certain pictures in each album where there are groups of people from different families.
