theonewithaclue 2 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 My dts-flac and dts flac files are perfectly fine, they are getting "passed trough" to my external decoder from my windows pc and even when burned to cd, they get "passed through" to an external decoder from my very old cd player with an digital spdif out (on the analog cinch, there is white noise, as it should be I am telling this to stop immeadiately any discussion on the file format, its perdectly fine The question I have is, what device and what Emby app would be the best as a client to "pass through" those files that are provided by an Emby server on a Synology? Only, if I figugre out a way how to do this, I would buy a lifetime subscription, monthlyor yearly plans are a nogo for me And of course, its not working with the Emby or Emby-TV app on my Philips TV Any suggestions?
rbjtech 5000 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I'm unsure what you mean by DTS FLAC - there is no such codec.  They are either FLAC or DTS, they cannot be both. Either way, you simply need to have an end device that natively supports the codec in question - be it DTS (or DTS-HD, DTS-X etc) or FLAC (but be careful here, as there are many formats within the FLAC container). Don't try and use ARC or EARC - ie go 'through' a TV - as you may then be limited to what that TV supports (passes through).  Go direct from the Emby device to the decoder/receiver - and then pass the Video into the TV. I've never had issues with the Shield Pro, except a few edge case audio codecs - Everything from DD Mono to DTS-X/THD 7.1 Atmos passes through to my Denon Receiver just fine. 1
theonewithaclue 2 Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Hi Luke, I figured it all out, unfortunately Emby is not a solution for me, so I canceled my Premiere test account and I will not buy the litftetime version. Emby on Android is not supporting an external player (on the Android client, e.g. my phone), but this would be absolutely important to me. Here are the specific reasons: - I would like to be able to play wav or flac files that contain a compessed dts stream (44100 kHz). Google "DTS CD" on Wikipedia if you do not exactly know what that is, please no discussion about that format it exists, and it works ;-). - The Android player needs to be able to forward the stream either directiy to en EXTERNAL player, in my case the "Wiim Pro Plus", or it needs to be able to support an external player app like the Wiim Pro app. - Why is this important: To not fuck up the encoded digital signal of those wav or flac files, it is important to not alter it and it needs to be 100% volume. Thats called bit perfect passthrough ;-). - The Wiim Pro is the only device I tested so far, that can do it, for example I could not figure it out for a "Video Chromecast" with an HDMI audioextractor, nor with the "Audio Chromecast" via its TOSLink digital output. - I could use the Wiim Pro app to play tthose songs via DLNA from Emby, but unfortunately that is nort very responsive. - So, I ended up having the music on a Synology, accessing it with their Audiostation App, where I can forward the music directly to the Wiim Pro, which is on the same local network. WHAT WOULD BE GREAT: Put this functionality to the Android player app, but make sure, the app ist just passing the stream and for example no 44100 to 48000 conversion. Ausdiostation can do it, so ts possible. Thanks!   Â
theonewithaclue 2 Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 - search does not work for me - slow - sometimes inresponsive Maybe all of the abouve are the fault of the Wiim player, I don't know. But unfortunately for those reasons, I cannot use the combination Emby, Wiim, DLNA What I do really not get is why the Emby App does show other external devices as player, like Chromecast Audio- and Chromecast Video but not the Wiim. AudioStation (Synology shows the Wiim). Is this a different protocol?
Luke 40111 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Hi there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
theonewithaclue 2 Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 I have practically the same issue as described in the limnk below. Look to the last post of GeorgeCalli in that link Kind regards!
Luke 40111 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 @theonewithacluecan we please look at a specific example anyway? Thanks !
theonewithaclue 2 Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Sorry Luke I do not have time a good specific example! For me the problem is solved: - Emby server on Synology works perfectly with my TV, unfortunately not for dts-wav, but here the TV is the problem (upampling, no real pass through) - Audiostation (Synology) solves the problem from above together witb the "hardware / software Wiim player" - The Wiim player does not work very good together with the Emy DLNA server IN MY HANDS, FOR ME its not respnsive enough. FOR ME the combination Audiostation/Wiim works better.Maybe others do not have problems that I have but again, its all well described in that post from above that has 15 replies. I think is is not the fault of the Emby server, so I would like to stop the discussion here. Thanks you! Kind regards,  Â
theonewithaclue 2 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 The biggest issue with the Emby DLNA server and the Wiim Player is that it does not list the atrists if I choose "Artists". "Albums" and "Songs" are working with no issues, maybe a little bit slow but o.k.. Library is perfectly tagged (ID3) and organized in folders: 1. level artists, 2. level albums, 3. level songs (or CD no. and then songs)
theonewithaclue 2 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 (edited) Ah, so I am not the only one with this issue........ Edited February 10 by theonewithaclue
theonewithaclue 2 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 I have exactly this specific issue with the DLNA server: Â
Luke 40111 Posted March 1 Posted March 1 hi, if you need immediate relief, this should be resolved on the 4.9 beta channel. Thanks.
theonewithaclue 2 Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 Solved: - Android Symfonium app can stream via DLNA from an Emby server without the problems that occur with other players I tested to a Wiim mini or a Wiim Pro Plus (yes, I have now both The result is a bit perfect dts stream that can be decoded by my Logitech Z-5500 For all that want to try the same with an Chromecast or a Chromecast Audiio: Forget it, I tested it, its not working (terrible white noise from the speakers) Additional note: Make sure the volume on the Wiim is set to 100 %. You can control the volume with your surround system
