Steveo369 11 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I run the Emby Windows app on my server HTPC. When I first installed the new app, somewhere in the menu/setup onboarding, I was presented with a display type selection option, including TV, PC and another choice or two. I unfortunately chose wrong, and my Emby windows app has pretty small font. The old app was set up more appropriately with larger fonts. I've looked through the various app settings and options, and the initial option to select the display mode is not shown in any of the menus that I can find. If I use a browser, I see the appropriate option for Display Mode in the web app under Settings-Display. How can I set this option in the Windows App?
Steveo369 11 Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Fixed - I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled/redownloaded from the MS Store. The Display Mode Option now shows up in my settings and I'm able to use TV mode. Strange glitch... 1

This theme doesn't have a TV mode, so the option doesn't show unless you switch to a different theme.

I'm pretty certain that I enabled the Windows Theme early on after the first install, but I'm 99% sure I also changed back to a non-Windows Theme while troubleshooting, and the option did not appear to come back. But it is possible that was at least part of the issue. May need some better user guardrails to explain that behavior.

Yes, maybe not hide the Display Mode setting but just remove the other selections from the dropdown. This should make it more clear. But the showing/hiding should work reliable. There were other user questions about it, and they always confirmed that it comes back after switching the theme to a non-Windows one.
Steveo369 11 Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Actually, I did some experimentation this evening, and I've now figured out the steps to reproduce the bug, and unless I'm missing something it is unrecoverable. App Settings Display Mode "Auto" App Settings Theme "Dark" Select the "Settings Theme" to be "Windows" (I guess that this selection is to allow us choose the theme we want to use when in the Settings menus?) At this point, the "Theme" populates with the "Theme Settings" button, but the option to select the "Settings Theme" is now gone, and the option to select the Display Mode is also missing. Exiting back out from Settings to Emby home screen leaves the system in "Windows" Theme. It looks like the disappearing dropdown option related to the "Settings Theme" may be the culprit here. Below is a screenshot from my Settings menu showing that I'm in "Dark" Theme, but I have no option to change my "Settings Theme" back from Windows, and this is causing my whole system to be in "Windows" Theme. Hopefully this all makes sense. If you've got any ideas on how I can get this back without reinstalling, let me know.
softworkz 4534 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Thanks a lot for the investigation. You're the first to run into this, but yes, that's a trap. It's on the list for fixing Thanks again!
Mahinepua 59 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I reported the same issue after setting the windows theme, the display mode settings disappeared.
Solution softworkz 4534 Posted February 11 Solution Posted February 11 The fix is in the current release already (since 2.211)
