Response to request to play music on Alexia gives "Unsecured HTTP protocol is unsupported"

Hi All
Struggling to get EMBY to work with Alexia at home.
If  I say "Alexa start Emby Home" I get the “Hello how can I assist you, for example play a few songs” response.
However If I then ask it to “play music by xxx” it responds with “Unsecured HTTP protocol is unsupported, please use HTTPS with a valid certificate or change to a supported device.”
Recording attached.

Any suggest on how to sort this please?

Microsoft blocks this.  There is no voice command fix with Alexa.

  1. Either you purchase a domain and install an SSL cert, and move your Emby content to that.
  2. Open Edge browser and do the following.  This might be remembered and continue to work, but more likely you would have to do it every time:
    Quote

Click the 3 dots in upper right "Settings and more (ALT-F)"

Select "Reload in Internet Explorer mode"

Thanks for the answer - I don't really know what the means, but I do know enough to realise that it means Emby doesn't work with Alexia!
Thanks for the info.

Hi @markpainterEmby does work with Alexa, but in order to play on Alexa you will need to setup https on your Emby Server. This topic has some guidance on how you can do that:

At the risk of sounding sarcastic, it does seem a very long winded.
I would say that for an average user, having to pay to register a domain, then pay to have a fixed internet  IP and then pay for a SSL certificate to all intents and purposes does mean Emby doesn't work with Alexia.
It's just too much of a faf - I think I will just stick with Spotify for listening to music via Amazon.
But, thanks for answering my question - and coming from another media server (***x) I can still say that I  bloody love Emby!

It's due to the fact that alexa devices will only play media from https urls.
