A problem with the disordered sorting of Split video files (file stack

My device is Synology DS220+.

The installed version is the one from the Package Center, and its version number is 4.8.10.0 - 724081000.

The problem I'm currently having is that the additional parts of Split video files (file stacking) are out of order.

I've read https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html in detail. And I've tried various segment names as guided, such as 1>2>3, a>b>c, part#, cd#, dvd#, pt#, disk#, disc#.

You can also use:

moviename#.ext

Where # can be A through D.

Examples:

\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009)-cd1.mkv

\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009)-cd2.mkv

I've also tried sorting the APP page, file names, and titles in both ascending and descending order. However, the additional parts are still out of order.

Moreover, I've tried putting multiple different movies' cd1/cd2 in the same folder. I found that sometimes the additional parts of the same movie couldn't be recognized as belonging to one movie but were recognized as two separate movies instead. Later, after I strictly followed the guidance to create new folders and place them in, this phenomenon disappeared. But their order is still chaotic!

Finally, I tried Jellyfin. I found that these phenomena were normal with it. It can recognize them properly under any circumstances

Here is a wild guess.

Try adding a space before the - and after the -

\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009) - cd1.mkv

\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009) - cd2.mkv

Will have to look but the was/is another topic where file stacking items were captured in wrong order ie cd-2 being first and cd-1 being additional part.

Will potentially need to see debug logging.

I added spaces before and after cd “-” according to your method, but the result is still out of order.

Yes that method is for multi-versioning not file stacking.

Was this media added to 4.8.10.0 or existing media that you are noticing this issue?

But dev will have to comment further as I thought a fix has put in for this.

Can you remove this content do full scan, then readd it as I am looking of "Debug App: Found extra AdditionalPart" login like shown in linked topic above.  Or if you have a different movie you can add.

Tbh I always merge multi part videos into 1 file.

Yes this is the recommended method these days as not all clients will automatically play second part.

I have already tried deleting the media library and re-adding it, and added spaces before and after the " - " in the file names, but they are still out of order.

The file name is "妖姬".

Another thing is that I hope Emby can automatically stack all the movies' CD1/CD2 in the same folder just like Jellyfin does, instead of requiring me to create a new folder for each movie to organize them. Currently, the situation is chaotic. Some are successfully stacked but in a disordered manner, and some are even split into two independent movies.

However, the current bug is that sometimes they are recognized as two independent movies and the additional parts are out of order.

When I upgraded to the latest beta version 4.9.0.34 and named and sorted strictly according to the guidelines, it has been working properly.

Examples:

\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009)-cd1.mkv

\Movies\Avatar (2009)\Avatar (2009)-cd2.mkv

However, if all the movies with cd1/cd2 are put into one folder, the sorting is still chaotic and many files won't be stacked. I hope this problem will be improved in the future.

Examples:

\Movies\Avatar (2009)-cd1.mkv

\Movies\Avatar (2009)-cd2.mkv

\Movies\text(2009)-cd1.mkv

\Movies\text(2009)-cd2.mkv

OK we'll take a look at that. Thanks.

好,我们来看看这个。谢谢。

After I tested that the new version was normal, the file names became disordered again after migration. The name is 摧花神龙教(1993) .mpg.

file:"/volumeUSB2/usbshare/三级电影/摧花神龙教(1993)/摧花神龙教(1993) -cd2.mpg" -threads 0 -v info -print_format json -show_streams -show_chapters -show_format -show_data

The ones in reverse order in the log are disordered. The problem remains the same.

As mentioned debug logging would show this better.  As the probe order doesn't tell us the "Debug App: Found extra AdditionalPart" order.  As your image is actually just it probe sometimes the first file and sometimes not.

So are all the ones that are probed in the correct order displayed properly?

Yes. The content displayed in the log in positive order is indeed in positive order, and the content displayed in the log in reverse order is also in reverse order. However, when the file extension suffixes are different, they will not be stacked and there will be omissions when scanned.
