warrentc3 45 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Curious about what all changed in this plugin update. I am seeing a big difference in connectivity between my manicured source and emby… as in concurrency appears to be handled internally by emby. Please advise.
warrentc3 45 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 And how can I roll back to the version that doesn’t force “tuner sharing” on me. Not sure how this became a GA feature, especially one that the admin cannot control. I am completely fine with 5 live all watching the same channel making 5 connections. That’s exactly why i have what i have in front of emby. Now I get all kinds of stutter and stream restarts on clients any time there’s concurrency.
warrentc3 45 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) And I cannot roll back to previous versions because it autoupdates out of my control.... I've been getting the business all morning about the parade and both sets of parents having stream stutter.... but I've been observing this for weeks.... Maybe tuner sharing works fine for MPEGTS sources…. but it’s absolutely not prime time ready for HLS sources. Why can I not control my own server? Edited November 28, 2024 by warrentc3
warrentc3 45 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 Zero chance that the only code change was around “tagging per source”

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
warrentc3 45 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 @Lukei start playback on two different devices for the same channel… only one connection is made to my hls-proxy. that’s pretty cut and dry. play politics if you like, but there’s a significant undocumented behavior change that’s negatively impacted my performance that emby removed the capacity to control.

Yes, this is how Emby works in its core and has nothing to do with the m3utuner plugin which is only used to import the channel info. If you have something else going on it's a coincidence. Please provide the info Luke asked for so we can take a look at it and try to help you resolve this. Carlo

Carlo There was a connection to source made for every individual active live tv channel viewer as prescribed, even after upgrading to emby server 4.8.10… and before m3u plugin 1.0.32 release. If ‘tuner sharing’ is “core”, when did it become core? Because prior to this month, that’s behavior I never observed in the years of me using Emby. Also, it’s pretty difficult to reproduce the behavior since Emby users no longer have the luxury of controlling which version of a plugin is installed on their own server. It's not a new thing though as the server has been doing it for years.

Carlo 4478 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 @warrentc3Hi, Out of curiosity, what clients are you normally using when you observed the separatee streams being used? Do you happen to have any server logs we could take a look at when it was opening different streams? Carlo

Carlo I would love to give up logs from the time period where this occurred, however log retention is not a user controllable setting and the backup plugin does not backup logs. even though txt files are highly compressable. 1
