no ac3 224 bps sound with emby theater 1.1.574.0 from windows store :(

hello friends,

i bought a new windows 11 (23H2) version pc as a emby client . a brand new very fast laptop. i told myself, there will be certainly not any issues with emby with windows 11.

the first thing i have done, is to install emby theater from windows store.  version 1.1.574.0. My emby server is still very old and cannot transcode 4k hevc files, he is 10 years old, but i am lucky i have hardcore high speed fiber, that make that old server still good, as i always put audio and video at 200mbps. these settings avoid my old server send direct play files and not transcode anything.

So the first test i have done is to play a 4k mkv file from a bluray 4k i own. Damn it is transcoding.  why emby server transcode as i have a mega fast internet connection.   then i see a post from Luke replying to a person you have to buy some hevc extension on windows store for 0.99$. a hevc extension, to make this emby theater work on windows 11.

Whouah i bought a brand new 2024 windows 11 pc and it cannot play hevc... So i said to myself, ok no problem,  i will give 1$ to bill gates. 

So after i have paid 1 dollar to microsoft. Hourah my damn new windows pc do not ask for transcoding anything, and i may enjoy emby now  

the file i have have an english dolby true hd and a 224 kbps ac3 stereo in my native language. 

the first think emby do is to choose my native language. damn NO SOUND.

i check server admin page, audio et video direct play. No any transcoding but no sound in my emby theater 1.1.574.0 client.

So i restarted my movie with english sound. Here the sound works as dolby true hd is transcoded to AC3 384bps.

Seems that windows 11 cannot direct play dolby true hd. but neverming my old server can transcode audio. it is low cpu charge.

but my native language stereo 2.0 at 224kps do not play at all on emby theater.  So i said to myself, maybe a sound driver problem.

No !!!! when i use microsoft edge instead of emby theather 1.1.574.0. i have both hevc direct play and i have sound even i choose my 224kbps 2.0 audio track. with internet explorer, all is direct play and sound is also working.

 

Can someone has a clue why emby theater 1.1.574.0 has no sound at all when i choose 224kbps ac3 tracks ?

higher bitrate AC3 works > 384bps in emby theater   1.1.574.0

low and higher bitrate ac3 works in microsoft edge.

have a nice day all , it is so frustrating

with version Emby Windows 2.207.2.0 it seems to work well now, i have sound with direct play even with 224 kbps ac3 stereo sound
