CharlesF 8 Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 I am having trouble getting Emby to properly recognize the m3u file from StreamMaster. What happens is that when I paste the SM m3U url into Emby, it imports fine, but when I try to either a) add an EPG or b) match the channel with the correct channel from an existing EPG, all the channels get scrambled. Here is a sample of the screen from SM but here is what happens when its imported into Emby Any thoughts appreciated.
CharlesF 8 Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 Please look at the screenshots. It’s self evident. for example. In SM the NFL Arizona Cardinals and Detroit lions are as they should be. Look at the second screenshot which is once the m3u is brought into emby. Now the Arizona cardinals logo is matched to the Chicago bulls channel. And the lions logo is matched to the NY Giants. I did nothing other than add the m3u to Emby.
CharlesF 8 Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 Here is a Loom I captured that hopefully clearly shows the 'scrambling' https://www.loom.com/share/41547025fe1d463bbae73ec431438606?sid=b7d68de4-d4fe-4b7e-8835-fc17134f1aa4
CharlesF 8 Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 Here is another example of the craziness via a loom video https://www.loom.com/share/ec53894c37cc44df833d24d3ed26169f?sid=7c0a7bef-ed6d-457d-a3a8-ee4ddb969f5f
Carlo 4486 Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 It's likely something to do with the way the tags are in the files. If you want to PM me with the generated m3u and xml files, I can take a look and maybe load on a test system to get a much better idea of what's taking place and how to resolve this on your system. Question, are you seeing the mix-match of EPG to channels as soon as loaded, or is it happening after refreshing in a day or two? Carlo
CharlesF 8 Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 (edited) Its happening almost instantly, did you watch the Loom videos? Also, I'm using the Emby built in EPGs plus external ones. Will DM you. Edited November 20, 2024 by CharlesF
JIsenhour247 0 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I to am having this same issue using Threadfin or Streammaster. It's only a issue with Emby as I have tested the same setup with Plex & Jellyfin. I have lifetime with Plex, but finally got feed up with the direction they seem to be heading in. Jellyfin is okay, but there client apps lack a lot to be desired most are just a wrapper. I am now a lifetime member with Emby and hoping this is my last stop, however i have been following Kernel closely. Please if anyone has a fix for this it would be great! thanks in advance for any help with this.
CharlesF 8 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 Same re Plex. I have been lifetime since the day it came out. Fed up as well. Also now a lifetime member with emby. Ideally we don’t even need SM however streams that work using vlc don’t using emby. Would love emby to be my one stop solution
Luke 38875 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Can we please see example m3u and xml guide data? Most likely there are some duplicated values in there. Thanks.
CharlesF 8 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 (edited) I have shared with Carlos via DM. Dupes isn’t the issue. And I am fairly certain of that because my IPTV provider allows me to select which streams/channels, i want so my M3U is under 200 streams/channels that I have specifically selected Edited November 22, 2024 by CharlesF

CharlesF 8 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 Again Luke, per my post which you quoted above, I already provided this to Carlos via DM. He has the SM m3u and the xml files.

Channels with reported buffering problems play clean for me, but it's delivered via Cloudflare CDN directly to me at PhillyIX (Philadelphia) Exchange. I'm going to try using a VPN exit point closer to him with a stream playing on another computer in the background. For the Channel EPG mix-up, I wasn't able to reproduce it using his m3u/xml files mixed with our EPG sources. However, I may have just experienced this issue doing a quick test of the EmbyM3UTuner.dll plugin you posted here, using the my-test-m3u.txt file @sa2000 posted. As soon as I added sa2000's one-channel test m3u to what I had setiup for @CharlesFI got some weirdness like what's shown here. This channel is from CharlesF and is actually the UK BBC channel. To reproduce the issue, I remapped channels, mapping BBC to Cinemax, which worked. Updates were fine until I added su2000's m3u file. Remapping Cinemax to HBO loaded HBO guide data but not graphics. Despite refreshing and restarting, Cinemax graphics remained. Deleting and reloading fixed some graphics, but not all. Switching themes showed different logos, while a smaller EPG graphic went missing. The small graphic that appears in the EPG grid view went missing. I'm attempting to replicate and document this for dev use.

I had been trying to reproduce an issue where the guide and/or graphics get out of whack with the channel it had been mapped to.
CharlesF 8 Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Carlos. Just a reminder that the channel mixups are when I use the stream master m3u not the m3u provided directly by the iptv provider. Thanks again for your help.
Carlo 4486 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Yes, got that. I just can't test with stream master yet for you as I need the XML guide link you input into stream master. I can't use the stream master generated link as that point to 10.x..x.x which is output of SM from your setup. This is what I've been asking for in PMs. Carlo
