Lyfesaver 73 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 After turning my onboard to Enabled in BIOS: Still no Arc encoders and now there are multiples of everything
Lyfesaver 73 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 It's possible that the Arc encoders are installed (but Emby cant see them) as Handbrake can see them (the UHD 770 is disabled in BIOS): I did an encoding test with Handbrake and it used the Arc to do it, but Emby cant see it Now, my encoders are back to this But what is worse is after all this driver uninstalling and BIOS changing, when I put everything back, I now lost my ability to do HW tone mapping: Please help me, now things have gone from bad to worse
Lyfesaver 73 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 I turned my UHD 770 back on in BIOS so that I get some hardware encoders and I get my HW Tone Mapping back 1
Carlo 4477 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Nice, The last pic above is what it should look with both decoders and encoders present (not doubled) as well as having HW tone mapping.

Ya, now Emby just needs to see the Arc encoders. Handbrake does, that "other" media server does, but not Emby. I even looked thru this thread and the one nested in it and still does not fix my issue of Emby not seeing them: Edited November 22, 2024 by Lyfesaver I missunderstood what Carlo was saying
Lyfesaver 73 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 Also, before I started messing with this, I had my iGPU disabled and was able to do HW tone mapping, and now I cant. I have to have the iGPU enabled.
Lyfesaver 73 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 Also, on a side note.. with the iGPU enabled, it takes like 3-5 mins after Emby is up and running for the Trancoding settings page to load
Lyfesaver 73 Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 Everything I try and do to get the Arc encoders to show up either flat out does not help or makes my situation worse
Carlo 4477 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 They show up in one of your last pics. As a test, turn off AVC encoding (if it shows up) and try playing something back. Then try turning encoding on but turn off the decoder for whatever protocol is in the media. If it still fails try turning both off and see what happens. If there is a subtitle present select no subs on playback but it still might get used depending on the client settings which you can edit to tell it not to use subtitles by default. After these tests gather all the logs and update them here for us to look at. Note the time you started the test and only grab logs with that time or later. Carlo

In my list of encoders (not decoders) only the Intel UHD 770 is listed, not my Arc (in decoders both are listed). Are you saying that for people to HW encode that have to use their iGPU? What about people with CPUs that dont have built in GPUs, like the Intel F models? 1 hour ago, Carlo said: As a test, turn off AVC encoding (if it shows up) and try playing something back. I don't understand what you are asking for here, please keep in mind (as I am sure you have already figured out, lol) I am a damn moron

Upload your server log and hardware log for us to take a look at. Carlo 1

Carlo 4477 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 @softworkzCan you look at this set of log files to see what might be wrong with loading and using the Intel Arc A380 Graphics? 1
softworkz 4274 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 First of all, I would disable subtitles loading. The log is full of those errors: Same for this: It's difficult to see anything among all those other errors. Maybe these are even related to the issues, so let's get them out of the way first.
softworkz 4274 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 And then, please clean up the logs folder, restart Emby, reproduce and send those log files only. Can't look into 20 and guess which one might be the one showing the problem. (that it always produces 3 ffmpeg logs it our fault, so no worries about sending three). Thanks 1
softworkz 4274 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) Also, you do not have the latest Intel drivers installed: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html During installation, choose "Clean Install" (or similar) Then you'll also see QuickSync codecs for the ARC card. Also make sure you have "Resizable Bar" enabled in the BIOS. Edited November 30, 2024 by softworkz 1

I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times throughout the course of this thread over the past couple weeks. I have done a clean install and I have even uninstalled in safe mode and made sure everything was gone from filesystem and registry both I believe those errors are from the subtitles auto downloader, which has never worked. I dont think it has ever found a single SRT for me so I dont mind turning it off. I restarted the server and once again I am just sitting here waiting for the Settings > Transcoder page to load takes forever.... Finally done: Okay, here are the logs logs.zip Again, tyvm for looking into this
Lyfesaver 73 Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) On a side note, I do believe the Arc Encoders are actually installed on my system as Handbrake and "that other media server who's name will not be mentioned" both see and use them. Edited November 30, 2024 by Lyfesaver

We recently had another case where Intel D3D11 didn't work. As a quick solution - which brings us equal to the others, you can install the Diagnostics Plugin and enable this checkbox: We've just hidden those in newer version because they are generally not needed and just cluttering up the controls. Please note though, that D3D9 only works when you have a monitor connected to the GPU you want to use.

I just enabled and saved it and as to your side note, I usually dont have a monitor connected to this PC at all, but currently (since i have been trying to fix this) I have had, and do have, one connected to my Arc card

softworkz 4274 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 You need to restart Emby Server after changing the checkbox. Besides, you definitely have created some mess with the graphics drivers. At one point it looked like you would have 3 or 4 ARC cards in your system. Open Device Manager >> View >> Show hidden devices and see whether there are still any ghosted display adapters. If yes, right-click >> Uninstall
