Ajovanovski 0 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Hello, I cannot install the Emby Server on the latest Synology Update 1. I am getting the following error message: ”This package requires DSM 7.2-63134 or older” Devs need to look at this issue ASAP.
Carlo 4547 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Hi, You need the Emby version built for DSM 7.2+. https://emby.media/download.html Synology made changes that required a new build when going from DSM 6 to DSM 7 DSM 7.1 could still run the same version used on DSM 7 DSM 7.2 had OS/security changes that again required a new build. This process is a bit of a pain in the you know what, but its good to see Synology making changes when needed to protect their customer's NAS against intrusion. Carlo
Ajovanovski 0 Posted November 16, 2024 Author Posted November 16, 2024 I did that and I am still getting the same message.
Luke 39654 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Hi, what exactly did you download to install?

I'm adding more info from my discussion with him on reddit because I'm curious what the problem is: his nas model is DS220j. I told him he had an ARMv8 model so he needed that emby install file ( https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.8.10.0/emby-server-synology72_4.8.10.0_armv8.spk ), so he tried that and still got the same error message. Quote Same thing. Getting the following message: "This package requires DSM 7.2-63134 or older"

Quote Your Synology NAS may not notify you of this DSM update because of the following reasons. If you want to update your DSM to this version now, please click here to update it manually. Your DSM is working fine without having to update. The system evaluates service statuses and system settings to determine whether it needs to update to this version. Not a rule or anything, but it seems when Synology doesn't notify you about a minor DSM update, it's probably for a reason. "This package requires DSM 7.2-63134 or older" That is saying your version of DSM is too new to work with the latest update from Emby and you would have to downgrade DSM. I don't recall seeing this before on point release of DSM. To the best of my knowledge, you're the only person getting this error. I've tried googling the error message in quotes two lines up using quotes, and this thread is the sole result on Google. It's been 13 days since SM 7.2.2-72806 Update 1 was released, and I think we would have many posts by now if the error you get was happening to others. I really say this, but I think it would be a good idea to reach out to Synology and see what they say. Carlo

Never had a problem before. The issue in my situation is that I had uninstalled Emby and cleaned all of the data files to start anew because my settings were kind of messed up and I wasn't getting the performance I thought I should be getting. I updated in the meantime before installing Emby back and I started getting this. Not sure if others have done the same, I assume they have had Emby already installed and just updated to Update 1. No way to downgrade DSM.
Luke 39654 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Are you able to install 4.8.8 from package center?

Jator 10 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Yes, sorry should have clarified I am now running 4.8.11. Thanks. 1
Morepower 1 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Hi I have been using emby on my Synology DS1817+ for years and I have never had any problems. But it has not been working for a few days. DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3 I had an older version of Beta 7.4.9.x of emby. I couldn't start it anymore. It kept crashing. So I uninstalled emby and tried to install the current version 7.4.8.11.0. I got the error message “This package requires DSM 7.2-63134 or older”. The same problem with the current Beta 7.4.9.0.42. I read the previous posts, but I don't know what @Jatordid... Best regards HP
