@Adorkable - Do you have any virtualization in place or is the OS running on the hardware directly?

Also, for hwa to work with Alder Lake on Ubuntu 22, you might need to install the LTS hs enabledment stack like this:

sudo apt install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-22.04

Please note that this will change your kernel.

@softworkzI use pve to pass the virtualized GPU directly to Ubuntu. Hardware transcoding of most videos can be performed correctly, with only a few errors.

root@kksuper-ubuntu:~# uname -r
6.5.0-44-generic
root@kksuper-ubuntu:~# dpkg -l | grep hwe
ii  linux-hwe-6.5-headers-6.5.0-44         6.5.0-44.44~22.04.1                     all          Header files related to Linux kernel version 6.5.0
ii  systemd-hwe-hwdb                       249.11.5                                all          udev rules for hardware enablement (HWE)

I'm not sure if this is because hwe is installed or not

Not sure either, maybe you need the kernel drivers from hwe in the host os as well? But that's an area where I don't have much knowledge.

It still doesn't work, I gave up, most of them can be transcoded normally. This problem doesn't affect me very much

Are you able to try without virtualization to see how things compare?

Sorry, no reply, the video that went wrong has been deleted by me. There is no way to test this problem. Thank you for your attention, I think this question can be closed

  • Thanks 1
