softworkz 4283 Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Near-term goals: New WMC UI Windows App the beta for the new Windows app is near completion. As soon as it is released, you can expect a new WMC beta for Windows based on the same application modes WMC UI for Linux Shortly, we will start a beta for a new Emby Linux app (non-wmc). Same here, only after the main app's beta is over, we can have a WMC version of it, as we cannot let WMC UI matters distract the primary apps' testing. But the good new is that we can finally have a Linux WMC app, which we don't have yet Lookíng further into the future, the following is planned: Updates to the WMC UI There will be a cycle for implementing all (or most of) the things which are currently on the wishlist: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/issues?q=sort%3Aupdated-desc+is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen Also the Dark Steel theme is yet to be released (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/129656-breaking-news-uhd4k-update-and-two-new-themes-coming-for-the-wmc-ui/#comment-1362815) New WMC UI Android App The Windows and Linux apps are based on the new Emby.Client cross-platform architecture, which aims to unify client apps which are currently totally separate app implementations. For Windows and Linux, the primary Emby clients have been a priority and have come first. For Android, we may start with a WMC UI version, serving as a proof-of-concept to help the decision about whether and when to migrate the Android app to the Emby.Client platform 2 1

LOL yeah, I came to that thought only after having posted it with that title, but as a matter of fact, in case of WMC UI, it's pretty easy to do so. There aren't much implications and no disappointments to cause (like "why is feature X not included", etc.) - which is very different in case of Emby clients and the server.. As you have done, they simply need to say what their immediate goals are that should be included in the next release followed by longer term aspirations. Server 4.9 for example - we've been given 'hints' that it should contain some form of smart playlists - if this is the case, then why not say this in a roadmap as it's been #1 on the FR list for YEARS ... 1
