Set a libraries to fetch metadata from online sources over embedded.

Hey all.

We've acquired lots of movies over time and when we rip them they come with embedded metadata which gets outdated quickly. We want to set a libraries preference to always scan and match metadata from online sources.

So maybe once every couple of months we can just re scan it to keep the data current.

Is this possible already?

Check the settings below (in each library)

Hi, what embedded metadata do you want to ignore?

Personally, I'd like to be able to set a setting so that it ignores local images.

A lot of my media comes with images that have the same name as the movie file, but are just a bunch of screenshots of the movie, and so they get added as the movie poster. I then have to either manually delete those files or manually refresh the metadata.

I want a setting that says "always ignore local images"

As per these threads, that doesn't seem to be a feature at the moment:

In plex, I just uncheck this box:

In Emby, I cannot find an equivalent.

Worth noting - I still want local metadata to be used to help identify the video, if that's applicable.

Hi, there is currently no way to ignore local images. We should probably have an option for that, but the vast majority of users want their local images used so that's why there isn't one at this point.
