Will the music lyrics option be added to the Firststick Emby app in the future?

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

Hi Luke, I took note of the version numbers of the two apps, not knowing if they could relate

Amazon Store: 2.1.14a

Android Store: 3.4.20

I went one step further. I uninstalled the Amazon version and side loaded the Android Version. The android version seem to function and has the lyrics feature. I didn't test every little thing. There must be some reason they are holding it back so I might run into it.

I did find that the Samsung TV Emby app has the lyrics function but it has no song queue that I could see. So all the apps have their quirks.

I do see one quirk about lyrics. When an lrc is running by itself, it shouldn't be possible to grab hold of a line of lyrics and interfere with the sequence. With a txt file and no timings it has to be advanced by hand in which case it has to be assessable of course.

I am just now starting to get interested in lyrics. Not all lyrics are available even from LRCGET but it is possible to generate ones own, albeit by hand. Might it be interesting for Emby to have a lyrics system. If there was a known way to do it I bet many users would be willing to share lyrics. Its just a thought, I bet you guys have a few ideas too.

Hi.  The app you sideloaded is available in the Amazon store.  It is named just "Emby".  I would find and install that so that you will get updates.

Thanks.

I do see there are two apps. One is plain Emby and the other one is Emby for Fire TV. Amazon says I "own" them both, indicating I've used them both before. Apparently I had the latter installed, before trying the side load. So when I started over and tried the "plane" Emby app, it download and then says Install Failure, something about corruption.

I've rebooted twice. Powered it complete off once. Neither seems to help. When I look up help from Amazon it says its the venders fault. I do see far fewer reviews on the plain Emby app and it get three stars. Could other's have the same problem I do? I have the Firestick 4K Max.

Hi.  Make sure you uninstall the sideloaded one and then try installing from the store.

Hi ebr,

After numerous tries I've had to give up on getting the "Emby" from the store installed on my Firestick 4K Max. It downloads and then reports it is corrupted. Now the side loaded one can't be installed either. The phone app says its installed but the Emby icon doesn't show in the apps list.

For now, I have to resort to using the "Emby for Fire TV" which is an older app but at least works on the 4K Max.

Hi, we have a link to the amazon store entry here:

https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html

Please let us know if that helps. Thanks.

Hi Luke,

Thank you for finding that page. I knew it existed but I hadn't been able to find it.

The correct app on that page is the arm7 apk. That one I was able to get installed successfully. It reports (as of 11/04/2024) as version 3.4.24.

What I had before was from an app extractor for the version off my Samsung S9+. It was version 3.4.20. Very similar but a little behind the official one.

Now if do a find on Emby within the firestick, trying the one found immediately goes to the installed app. I'm hoping this means Amazon updates will apply going forward.

Why it won't install new from within the Firestick App Store remains a mystery, but one I needed solve right now.

That should have read: Why it won't install new from within the Firestick App Store remains a mystery, but one I DON'T need to solve right now.

Note: but if you interested in solving the install from store problem, and there is anything I can try, let me know.

Did you try clicking the Amazon link on the  download page to view the app in the Amazon store?

I had previously download the arm7 version to my desktop and put it into the download directory of the Firestick 4K Max via a file manager. Now that you mentioned the above, I tried using the Download app that I have on the Firestick 4K Max and was able to install the arm7 version with one click. That is much more direct and easier.

Note: It is the arm7 version and not the arm64 version. I had asked ChatGPT which version type goes on a Firestick 4K max and Chat said arm64 with much enthusiasm. Afterd I told him arm64 didn't install he said he'd double check and came back basically said oh... its the arm7 version *memory updated*. Its a backward compatibility thing. I never would have guessed it.

Also, Luke, I wanted to mention. From that page, when I pressed the Amazon store button and went to their Amazon store page to install the app, it says "Deliver to xxxx Firestick".

I waited several hours and it never showed up on my firestick. It probably has the same "breakage" as trying to do it directly from the AppStore. That is why I used the arm7 link on your page which did work.
