Gambitason 5 Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Hi, I am new to Emby and really like it. There is a strange problem with the Samsung player though. When direct playing AV1 I get a black screen with audio while playing video. When I direct play the same video it plays with picture but no sound. When I lower the quality below the original file bitrate to start transcoding the media plays with sound and picture. Any help would be appreciated Samsung model number: network QE75QE1CAUXXN but also remote QE50QE1CAUXXN Samsung firmware version: QE75QE1CAUXXN = 2505.4 QE50QE1CAUXXN = unknown Samsung Emby client version: QE75QE1CAUXXN = 1.8.0 QE50QE1CAUXXN = 1.8.0 Emby server version: 4.8.10.0 For any playback related issues also include the following: Attach the server and any transcode logs during the time of playback: logs.zip Post a screenshot of the media info from the bottom of the web client: logs.zip
SamES 1004 Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Does this occur with all av1 files, or just this example?
SamES 1004 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Can you please confirm the Tizen version, which you should be able to get from the TV About/Support option in the Settings menu
Gambitason 5 Posted October 27, 2024 Author Posted October 27, 2024 as you can see it is 2505. But I have reports that this behavior is on other Samsung tv's as well. I added the stats for nerds as well so that you can see the exact behavior while playing.
SamES 1004 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 That’s the firmware version. On one of those options it should also give you the Tizen version
Gambitason 5 Posted October 27, 2024 Author Posted October 27, 2024 ah sorry about that. I hope this is what you asked for.

Gambitason 5 Posted November 2, 2024 Author Posted November 2, 2024 Yes it is. Good question but all tv's where I have seen this problem have the latest version.
SamES 1004 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I suspect the issue here is that DTS audio is causing the audio to be converted, but I'm not sure that av1 is working in the HLS stream with .ts segments that are currently being used. @Lukeis this likely the case? A possible reference here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffmpeg/comments/13ocph8/hls_segmentation_av1/

Gambitason 5 Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 @SamESThat sounds great thanks for your input! I could use some help here. After searching I figured out what HLS is. My question here @Lukehow do I go about removing AV1 from the HLS used by Emby? Is that done in the DLNA profile settings? 1

I'll make a change to the client which will ensure av1 gets automatically transcoded. It's not something that you can change.

The DLNA profiles look interesting. If there was an option to make device profiles for all forms of playback we could manage this on the server side or did I misunderstand how DLNA profiles work? Thanks for your help so far!

The dlna profiles are only for the dlna features. They don’t affect how Emby apps play.

Yes, it should be in the next release. Are you using the USB or store version of the app installation?

I am using the store version. I can test with the USB version of course but Not everyone in my family will be able to do that.

Gambitason 5 Posted November 13, 2024 Author Posted November 13, 2024 @SamESI have installed 1.9.1 this weekend but I have some bad news. The issue is still persisting. see below pictures
SamES 1004 Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Sorry, it didn't make it into 1.9.1, it came out sooner than I expected.
Gambitason 5 Posted November 14, 2024 Author Posted November 14, 2024 Thats a shame. I will try the next version

Gambitason 5 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 Sorry for the late feedback but I finaly got the chance to do another manual install and test the latest version. I installed version 1.9.5 and it playback is smooth without any black screens or problems. just one quick question if you don't mind. Any idea when the latest version will be on the samsung store? Thank you for the fast fix and dedication.

It's not related to your problem; I just want to ask because my TV is old and may not be receiving updates. The latest version on my TV is 1.8.0. Thanks. Edited December 30, 2024 by kakashi55

HI, it will take time to get through Samsung review, so it's just hard to say. 1.9.5 will probably not even be the version that gets submitted but rather something higher than that.
